| Puppies for dummies Hi everyone. I am new to YorkieTalk so I thought I would introduce myself and of course ask a question... I have been doing a lot of research and am planning to purchase a yorkie in the next week or two. I have already picked a breeder and she will have a male yorkie ready when he reaches 12 weeks. She suggested I get the book puppies for dummies. Has anyone read this book? Would you recommend it? What about Yorkshire Terriers for dummies or any other suggestions. On another note, this board has been great!! I have learned so much from you guys already!! I can't wait to get my baby so I can share my experiences with you guys. Tracy |

| Yorkies for Dummies I found this book to be a really good reference book. The pink dog (Training for little dogs? by dog stuff) book at Target is also a good book. The one thing that I learned here and wish I had used earlier is an x-pen. I highly suggest you use one for your little guy. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Tracy, welcome to YT! Looks like you've already started your homework and that's AWESOME! There is a book out there at Hastings and it's titled something to that effect...New Puppies for Dummies...it's in the dog section. Most yorkie books also have sections in there for bringing the puppy home, training, feeding, the illnesses, etc. I'd recommend getting one of those books. Best of luck!

| Yorkies for Dummies Hi Tracy! Welcome to YT. I'm getting a Yorkie in Feb and there have been alot of people here that have given great advice so far. I'm sure you'll find alot of answers. I just picked up Yorkies for Dummies yesterday and read most of it last night and today. While I haven't been able to test the info in it it is an easy and interesting read and gives alot of advice on all the aspects of yorkies including them as puppies, how to prepare, bring them home, and take care of them into good adult puppies. I'm anxious to try out the things in it, especially the training advice. I liked it because it was all together, but to tell you the truth if you do a good solid search online you can find alot of information here and on other websites that will give you similar info. Good luck with your new baby! Leah |

| Yes, Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies is supposed to be a good book although I haven't read it. I personally recommend The Idiot's Guide to Positive Dog Training and Ian Dunbar's Before & After You Get Your Puppy. |

| I personally think that before the mother lets her little yorkie puppies leave she has them read, Training Your New Owner for Dummies. Every yorkie owner I know is trained rather well by there little baby. Kim

| congrats on your new baby!! you must be soooo excited :] i read the yorkies for dummies and found it sooo informative and its so great to have on hand whenever you need a question answered. it has a spot at the end of my bed for those moments where i need to look something up. Also, you have this forum to help you with any questions and advice you may need. there are tons of breeders with lots of experience, and yorkie owners who are always eager to help. how much longer do you have until he gets here?? its going to be so exciting for you!! do you have a picture of your baby yet? its such an exciting process, congrats again!!

| Congratulations on your new baby and finding YT! The forum is great. I am finally getting my new puppy soon too and the people here have been great for answering all sorts of questions. I found the Yorkis for Dummies book to be really informative. It has alot of general info everyone should know plus alot of more specific things that you may or may not need depending on how you raise your baby...like how to roll and paper their hair if you are showing. Good luck! |
