| Money down! Can anyone explain to me what it means to you to put a $200 deposit down non refundable ... That means for whatever reasons the breeder can refuse you a pub and keep the deposit.. Or even with the deposit down for a pup does not guarantee you a puppy? Long time since we bought one... Is this the standard? |

| It most likely means that if you back out after committing to a pup from a breeder, you would not get your deposit back.

| Thank You... I figured that could be the way it goes..... But it also could be interpreted the other way.. I know I am anal and suspicious! My hubby and I have been shutting down scam artists too long! Not necessarily a scam around every corner! Thanks... Did I mention I am blonde to the roots! |

| I would get in writing from the breeder beforehand exactly what the terms of the deposit down means and for which breeding, pup, etc., and that both of you sign it and date it. Still, that piece of paper is only as good as the circumstances of any subsequent bad situation that would result in the improper keeping of the deposit and if you take her to small claims court and how the judge rules on it. Be sure that you are dealing with an honorable breeder of integrity that is so well-known and reputable that the person would never improperly keep a deposit without a justifiable cause. Apparently it does happen this day and time and if that breeder moves or disappears off the radar or just doesn't answer any mail, the door, email, Facebook appears, etc., then you are just out your money. And there are just scammers out there that probably never did have puppies to sell and do keep all the deposits they can get.

| I agree with the others . This deposit is to make certain that you don't back out of the agreement. Breeders could lose money and another sale if you promise to purchase a pup and then back out. |

| Deposit is reasonable because they will lose potential buyers. Just make sure you get a receipt and terms and conditions of the sale. |
