| New puppy! Need advice!!! Hi, my name is Alicia and I recently adopted my baby girl Phoebe!! She's 15 weeks old and weighs 2.4 pounds. She's soo cute!! I've never had a dog so I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. Any advice will be much appreciated! I've had her for almost 3 weeks! I am crate training but unsure of how much play time she needs. She can't go for walks yet cause she hasn't had all her shots but she will in about a week. My schedule looks like this! 5- potty 7-breakfast 7:30- potty 7:30-8:15 playtime 8:15- 11-crate 11-potty 11:15- hold her/ love her 11:20- crate 1-lunch 130- potty 1:30-2:15-playtime 2:15-430-crate 430-potty 430-4:40-hold her / love her 4:40-7-crate 7-dinner 730-potty 730-8:15- play outside in exercise pen 8:15-9:00- playtime 9-10crate 10-potty 10-bedtime! She goes poo 2-3 /day! We are working on not peeing inside and for the most part does great! I just want to make sure she's not in the crate too long!? I love her and want her to be happy! She doesn't cry when I put her in and she stays in there. *I also bath her once a week! Too much? Or is this okay? I am very clean so I don't want a dirty puppy * her eyes water everyday (which I heard is normal) but how do I keep her hair from looking wet all the time? I clean with a comb but it stays wet and hard... Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your response! |

| Great schedule! I'm glad that it is working for you! I had a fairly similar schedule for Bella, and it worked like a charm. Once a week bath is fine. Just be sure the shampoo is gentle and meant for dogs. I wipe the hair below her eyes once a day with a moist wash cloth. I know what you mean about the wet and hard fur below the eyes--no solution to offer, sorry! |

| Congrats on your new furbaby! It looks like you have things figured out and are doing good. I have been giving Henri a bath once a week since he was a puppy and have had no problem, so it should be fine Welcome to YorkieTalk!
