I immediately went out side to pull them and found they were gone.

I am so glad you were able to induce vomiting and avert a possible tragedy. Thanks for the reminder. I noticed some in my front yard yesterday. I keep the girls confined in a small area of my yard but I am going to go check that area for mushrooms. We just had some very heavy rain today. Cali would eat one in a heartbeat.

See, that's the thing...when dh came out to see what I was yelling at he acted as if I was nuts to be freaking out (ok, I AM nuts when it comes to these dogs, that's true!). All I knew is I didn't want to lose Tuffy IF it was poisonous.
I'd encourage everyone to have their emergency vet's phone number for quick answers in times like this. We're lucky here & have access to University of Florida's small animal hospital.

The first time Winston had a seizure and I rushed him to the vet...she suspected he had eaten a mushroom...and treated him as if he had...so I know it can become a very serious situation. So happy to hear all is well now with your little one...it could have been tragic.

Mushrooms scare the heck out me. The rain and humidity have brought many of them out here, and sometimes they are small and difficult to see.

Some of the little light brown mushrooms start out the size of a blade of grass. I know of at least of member here who posted about losing her Yorkie to a mushroom.

Mushrooms and fungi come in all shapes and sizes. I saw a slime mold in my back yard this morning for the first time--gross!!! They are blob-shaped, with tentacle-like projections coming off them flat with the ground. And they can move (their cytoplasm pulses like blood)--very very slowly, but they move. They remind me of the 1950's movie The Blob. I couldn't bring myself to kill it because it's a unique and unusual organism, so I buried it with a shovel.

LOL...leave it to the genetics guy to feel sorry for a fungus!
