YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Lola is adorable and blessed is the person who gets to have her. I am out in California or else I would be there. My dogs run the house and they just bark. My house is all dog, I just love them. I have little gates so they don't go upstairs and another so they do not eat the birdies. I am sorry you must give her away but I know you will be picky who you choose. You can tell a Yorkie lover. I would bring you in my home and you can see how a Yorkie lover lives-dogs have the couch, chairs, 3 crates with foam pillows, a dog table with pictures and books about them. I love the saying, "All you need is love and a dog!" That is on the wall. |

| ![]() Thank you to all who have been so supportive...I am investigating some great candidates. I will let you all know what happens. I also need to have a family meeting with everyone before any decisions are made. I am not sure how the kids are going to take it. I feel like I am in mourning. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Can we have an update? It really is hard to rehome a dog you love. But sometimes you have to do what is best for the dog. My heart goes out to you. I've been in your shoes. |

| ![]() Ugh I just wrote a LONG post that disappeared...the gist of it is: The kids were beyond upset at the suggestion that we may re-home Lola. They want us to try every other possible option first so we will try natural calming meds, calming collar and some anti-bark thing someone told me about. I do not want to medicate her with any kind of narcotic....to me that is not a quality life. The kids have promised to try and curb their behaviors but they are kids....running out the door to catch a school bus, jumping from one couch to another, playing and cheering at video games, being loud and happy by the pool, inviting new friends over, these are normal kid behaviors. Unfortunately any of those could set Lola off and have her shaking or hiding. It also does not help that she is not fond of men. My husband has tried everything to fix that but nothing has worked. So no decision has been made and I owe it to Lola and my kids to try everything I can before the very permanent decision of re-homing her. |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I am praying for you, I know this has to be very difficult on you and your family. These littles ones become a part of our heart very quickly. May you be led to the best decision for all.

| ![]() Our first yorkie Gizmo was like that! At the time some 14 years ago when our granddaughter was only two Gizmo would run and hide under the bed. Our grand daughter had a loud voice and Gizmo literally vibrated. I would put her on her blanket on our bed and close the door. Our current yorkie Kricket would sooner the child go on the bed with the door shut! She is a three pound KILLER! Used to be afraid of her shadow... Then we took her to Puerto Escondido and she figured everyone was there just to pat her! Love the yorkie breed like none other! |

| ![]() Poor baby girl! I hope you find a suitable and healthy solution for her! I'm sure Jack would love a sister but he's still in his learning phase on being socially polite! Wouldn't want to overwhelm little Lola. I hope everything works out for you and your precious girl!

| ![]() I'm so sorry you are facing this dilemma. It's so hard to see our babies in distress. But I'm glad you are taking the time to consider all options. You've gotten some good advice, so start there & see if there is any improvement. wishing you and Lola all the best! (i'd take take her in a new York minute if I could!)

| ![]() *EDIT* Should have read all of the posts before writing that. Silly me! I got lucky when I got Nilla. We lived right beside the train tracks, so she grew up in a sort of chaos zone, thus loud sounds and such do not bother her. She seldom barks or anything! In that sense, I do not have a lot of firsthand experience with this problem. Some people have had luck with thundershirts. I've tried to use a couple of homeopathic products for stress relief on Nilla for when I took her to the groomer when she was a puppy (because she was so jumpy), but the ones I tried did not have much effect on her in particular. All dogs are different though! My in law's took in a Yorkiepoo that had come from a home with many small boys and she was skittish and afraid of men as well. They frequently babysit a little boy in their family who is seriously a wild child (I cannot be around him without covering my eyes because he almost ALWAYS gets hurt), and when he first saw Dixie he went charging at her, sliding through the floor, etc. They basically had to train the boy to work with Dixie and be very gentle with her, and now she absolutely loves him. If they want you to keep her, I think that they should be more than happy to work on how they interact with her, and should be understanding. :-) They have had Dixie for almost a year, and with lots of patience and love, she's made a lot of progress and is pretty much a little daddy's girl now!

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() When children earn the love of a dog that is very special. Please try to find a way to keep her. Get a fence or gate and keep her away from trouble. She will adjust and still be in the family and loved. I could never give up a dog I fell in love with. I would do anything, really to keep my little dog. My JoJo has at times made us feel like he needs to pack his doggie bags, but I love that darn dog no matter if he barks, pees, or just chews up stuff. That is why God made them so cute! |
