correct, and before this I really did think standard was 5-7lbs. with that being said, I thought "teacup" was less than 5lbs which is why I thought Miley was falling into that range.

That's good to know she isn't a "teacup" breeder. I'm always sickened to see the websites of those breeding for and/or advertising using terms like "teacup" and "micromini" Yorkshire Terriers. I took Jilly at the breeder's knowing full well the problems she had had all of her young life and what kind of life she was going to have and still, knowing I could care for and provide her the quiet and well-vetted, catered-to life she needed in order to live as long as possible, it was a heartbreaking experience and one I'll never knowingly repeat. Even when you know you are getting a special-needs puppy, watching it suffer despite what the vets, treatment and medicine can do and the long, long nights up with her were so painful and shocking as to be something I'd never want to see another dog ever have to go through. And when I see a website that promotes the breeding and selling of puppies designed to stay super small and undersized, I quake with anger and resentment at the people behind them.

Just as a side note, a lot of times... the runt grows to be larger than the rest of their siblings. My two didn't fill out until they were 2, so I didn't know their adult weight until then. Khloe was 3 pounds until almost a year, and now she's 5, so those growth charts are not always correct.

Now, since we've established:

1. The reason WHY YT won't accept the term "teacup;"
2. That Courtney's breeder does not purposefully breed for "tinies;"
3. That Miley is really a regular sized yorkie; and
4. That no one here or there really intended to hurt another member with possibly rude or sarcastic posts;

NOW, can we all be friends? This thread seems to be re-hashing itself over and over.

The VERY first website I almost bought from was "ajjlsyorkies.com" She does state on her page that there is no such thing as a teacup but it is also very evident that she breeds for the tinies as they are really advertised and overpriced. I would never buy from a breeder like this.

oh most definitely and I don't follow the growth charts. I'm waiting for my expected 4.5lb yorkie to hit 40lbs so I can use her as my pillow like she does to me now :D

so how is there misreading the way she has talked to me? I don't see a difference. Yes my statement was sarcastic but my smiley was not. I could see how one would think that but if you knew me in real life (which none of you do) I use smilies when people are mad at me or when I made a rude comment to lighten the tension...not to be sarcastic.

But I never said she bred for smalls. Miley just so happened to be the smallest in her litter (and the only girl at that). When she told me Miley was smaller BUT healthy I was happy about it because I personally WANTED a smaller yorkie. She is still within breeding standard just on the smaller side so I don't see why it's an issue? NO I don't want a "teacup" (going by the YT definition of teacup) and I don't think anyone who buys teacups ever want to buy a sick dog. They just don't know which kind of is sad because as much time as people spend on their phones and the internet now why not make time for research on such a big investment? Miley was the first thing (aside from my car note) that I paid for entirely by myself. I saved up all $1500 of my work check for her and if you knew me you'd know how hard saving up is for me lol. I always have to have a new outfit. For the longest time my mom told me no, no, no to getting a dog. I am not thankful for all of the no's because if she hadn't I would've been scammed twice, gotten a puppy mill dog from the pet store in the mall and probably been heartbroken because my dog would probably be really sick or dead right now. It's because of all of her no's that I even took the time to research yorkies and i'm not gonna lie...I did type in something with "teacup yorkies" on google and yorkie talk popped up...thank god.

If you use a smiley following a rude comment, as you described above - that *is* sarcastic. It's like in person, if someone says something really nasty to you, and then flashes you this totally ingenuous toothy grin - that grin is actually seething with sarcasm.

Oh, good to know, Courtney. The message is getting out there that so often those itty bitties are very, very cute to look at but so often subject to a life of medical problems and special needs and usually only for those with disposable incomes. Choosing a reputable breeder that works hard to breed a healthy, hardier dog of standard size is usually always the wisest choice. I pray your little Miley is a healthy Yorkie and you two girls have years and years of the good life together.

I totally agree. The runt in Kyra's litter was half her size. She is now 7lbs and Kyra 3 so there really is no way of knowing until they are adults. Laddy weighed 3 and a half pounds until he was 3 years old had a filling out spurt and is now 5 lbs. The sad thing is people want so called "teacups" and we see alot of people on here that do, only to have their dogs way exceed their expectations and then they are not happy with them.

She is in no way special needs at all. She is very healthy and she is 5 1/2 yrs old.

BUT Miley is still a PUPPY. It would all depend on what she size she matures at. Right now she is puppy size.
