At home pet sitter advice please We are going out of town in a couple weeks and we found a college student that can stay with our yorkie while my moms at work during the day. She will stay with her from 7am to 6pm Monday through Wednesday. Our yorkie is a special needs yorkie so she requires someone to be with her at all times. She will just have to sit with her and make sure she gets her medicine in the morning. My mom will do the rest. Im wondering how much should we offer to pay her? Thanks!!

Won't she tell you how much she charges? Anyway I'm sure how that works. Just be careful about who you hire to take care of your dog because I've heard too many horror stories about pet sitters. It's good that you mother will be around also.

I've taken my dog to a local sitter with good results. She charged $30 per day - but that's with over night. In your case, it's like a babysitting situation. I'd figure out the hours and calculate a day or weekly rate based on that. Good luck. Tracey

My pet sitter also charges 30 for a sleep over. I would ask her what she thinks is fair and then you and her can come to an agreement.

Thanks for the suggestions. Shes a friend of the family and I dont think she normally pet sits. I just couldnt find anyone else since I dont trust many people with our dog since she is special needs. I was thinking maybe 150 for the three days since she would be sitting at our house for about 10 or 11 hours each day. Does 150 sound reasonable or too much or too little? Ive never had anyone watch her before. thanks

I think that's a very fair rate - especially if you supply some food (for the sitter, that is.) Good luck.

My best friend just went to Vegas and his boy Gucci is staying with Teegy, Tufty and I. I'm charging him a 3 course French meal and wine, hahahaha. I agree with the other posters

| Wow you guys are lucky my pet sitter charges 17.00 per visit which is a hr. visit. I usually tip 3.00 so I end up paying 20 an hr. I don't mind though bc she is bonded and licensed and insured. I trust her totally with my girls and they love her
