| stopped labor my 2 year old yorkie is having her first litter. The male is 5lbs and she is 5lbs. She had 1 6oz puppy maybe 4 hrs ago. She is having mild contractions but no more babies. There is definetly at least 1 more left. Would a warm bath help stimulate her? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Hi! I just read your post. I'm not a breeder, but wanted to suggest you post in the Breeder Forum. You may get a faster answer there. I'm praying all goes well with your momma and unborn pup!

| A visit to the vet would be more beneficial....Did you have prenatal xrays to verify how many babies she was carrying, and if they were going to be able to pass through the birth canal? You are at risk of loosing not only the rest of the babies, but your female as well. |

| You might want to phone your vet or just take her in. Sorry I'm not more helpful. 4 hours sounds like a LONG time to this untrained person. You could also visit the breeding section for help. Praying for your little girl.

| Scroll down after Yorkshire Terrier Community home page and you will see Breeder's Section. It's located down from where you posted your thread. I'd be looking for another Vet if it were me. The placentas start detaching, so you will lose the babies, and possible infection started in Mom. If you have to have a section to get a dead pup out, you might as well have the section early enough to save the pup, and help Mom. Did you know for sure there was more? | stopped labor yes I knew definitely, I made it to the vet okay and I knew she was large enough inside to pass the puppy out, but we did lose the second pup, and I do believe it was because the vet waited too long because of how he looked. but all in all Mom did fine all through out. Her contraction had actually stopped about 11 last night and never really star back strong until we gave her a dose of oxytocin. Thanks guys for all of your concern. |
