need info for being a foster parent Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself. My name is Ann and I am from san jose california. I don't have a yorkie or any dogs at the moment. I recently lost my baby boy who is a maltese to GME/NME about 3 months ago. He was only 5 years young. After researching about his conditions and reading about all the furbabies that are in shelters my heart breaks for them. I figure if I can help one out then it would make Biscuit happy (Biscuit is my furbaby that went to the rainbow bridge). I am just asking now to get as much informations as I can before I foster one which won't be until a few months. So if there are any foster parents out there that are willing to help me thru this I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much!!

Over the years I have fostered many dogs and many different breeds. I have experience with the hunting breeds and poodles, bichon and now yorkies. I only foster breeds that I have experience with. That is just something I have always done. I will not take a dog breed that I do not know. No guard dog breeds, no pits no chows.

Thank you for responding and thank you for the warm welcome I know the best place to start is to look into those rescue groups in my area. But I would like to hear experiences and get some advices from foster parents on here as well. A few questions: 1. I noticed most rescue groups do a home check. I am currently living in an apartment at the moment with my husband and we’re in the process of trying to buy a house here (crazy bidding war here in California, seller market) but hopefully we can get a house by the end of this year. My question is does it matter if I am living in an apartment without a backyard? 2. As far as going to a vet which is fine but in case of ER visit, who end up paying for it? I know as a foster parent you are supposed to give them unconditional love and support their needs until they find a forever home but do foster parents end up paying for the ER visits? I am just curious as to what goes on with being foster parents to those furballs in need and I would really love to learn and be able to help even if it’s just 1 furball. And I would only like to foster small breeds because I don’t have that much experience with big ones. Thanks you, Ann
