Gerber baby food, chicken or lamb....it is bland and most of the babies love it and eat it easily. You are going to probably need to either let him lick it off your finger tip or feed him little squirts in his mouth with a syringe you can get from the vet. NEXT!! If I were you, I would get the Gerber baby food...I would syringe feed that baby if he wont take it off your fingertip or off a flat surface like a little dish....and I would get goats milk, warm a little up and put that in a shallow dish for him to lap up...he is just now at the age where momma is beginning to wean him...he doesnt know how to lap stuff up...YOU ARE HIS MOMMA NOW, so you are going to have to teach him how to lick that baby food off something and how to lick up that goats milk...this is something you are going to have to do like every 3 or 4 hours, in order to keep him hydrated and fed.....It will be labor intensive to start with, but he will catch on and learn what to do.... give him about 1/2 inch of NutriCal on the roof of his mouth every 4 hours during the day and the last thing you do at night before he goes to sleep...this is important, so you dont wake up to an unconscious baby from low blood sugar in the morning....I wish I could get ahold of that bree.....never mind!!!!

Thanks for the food suggestions I'll keep those in mind. unfortunately the breeder is not really any help she swears he was eating dry food just fine but here he wont even touch it. :confused: Luckily now that I'm syringe feeding him he is more alert and playful and hes eating all the food.

You don't even want to know about what the breeder did with Joey and his vaccines. :mad: I might have rushed into getting him even though I wasn't crazy about the breeder because it was love at first sight. I may not be experienced but I have read almost every puppy book that I can get my hands on and I'm also very patient. I love this little guy. He's already peed on me once and pooped on the floor a couple of times and I just put him in his playpen, clean up the mess and play with him again. I will definitely do what I can so that he is healthy and happy, It's great to have a support system like you guys though. :D

The vet checked his stool samples both yesterday and today and they were good. No parasites or anything. Apparently he's just very stubborn and he won't eat. The vet got his blood glucose level back up and were going to force feed him for at least a week and see where he goes from there (she said they brought out all tyeps of food and he wouldnt eat anything even though he had not eaten all day). I'm basically going to use a syringe and use wet food mixed with a little water and feed him a little bit at a time. Thank you for everyone's advice you guys have kept me calm through all this. I honestly cried when I had to leave him at the vet I was so scared for him but he's going to be okay.

I am free feeding them Royal Canin X-Small Puppy because the kibble is very tiny and Daisy is quite small and was having trouble with the kibble the breeder sent home with them so I slowly introduced the RC and they are doing quite well on it. I also free fed my first Yorkie, Indie, who died in April, without issue, but of course it has to be what's best for the dog right?

I am having problems with potty training but that is to be expected and they are still quite young so I'm not too worried yet. I always use baby wipes or pet wipes to clean dirty bums and also have the area shaved really is the only way to keep them clean. I am not used to having a little boy with a little "thingy" and trying to keep it clean. Lol. Our breeder shaved the bums for us and also trimmed the hair in Duke's "thingy" on the day we picked them up, she also showed us how to properly trim the toenails which I was keen to learn.

I hope your little one is doing better today and continues to thrive. Please remember that if you are taking her to the Vet or anywhere really that you do not put her on the ground or around strange dogs since their immune systems cannot fight the nasties that can be found at the Vet or pet store or park. Bring your own towel to put on the exam table and ask the vet and the tech's to please scrub their hands before handling your baby. I am super cautious until ALL the shots have been given and I even make friends and family scrub up when they have come to meet the puppies this last week. Probably paranoid but having just lost Indie who I was lucky enough to have for almost 14 years, I cannot take any chances with these little ones, I would just die if they got sick and I could have prevented it with something as simple as washing my hands.

I want to start introducing wet food this weekend and all I have at home are different bags of dry food. Apart from baby food any brands you guys recommend? The a/d is good for puppies with diarrhea but I don't think that its as nutritious and tasty as it could be.

He is really feisty when I try to open his mouth he tries to shut it super tight lol but I'm keeping up with the feedings no matter how messy things get.

BTW is 1 pound 6 ounces a normal weight for his age? He will be ten weeks tomorrow.
