Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Get this...pet supple Plus is offering FREE rabbies shots for dogs... Here my question...are the rabbies shots that the vet gives at pet supply plus (free) the same quality as the rabbies shots you would get from your local vets office that you pay for? I'm just curious..I find it hard to believe that it is..what are your thoughts?

| ![]() I honestly do not know the answer to that. But my Rosie had a reaction last year to one of the shots. After getting her doses apart this year, we think it might have been the rabies shot. I haven't gotten it this year for her. The vet said many were having reactions to it. So my personal opinion is that I feel more comfortable with my vet giving it since we did have a problem before. However, if you never had a problem maybe it would be ok.

| ![]() One member here went to a free clinic and ended up standing in line for 3 hours. Another member who has worked free clinics expressed some concern about the vaccines being out or drawn that long. I prefer to skip the hassle and go to the vet. It also gives our doctor the opportunity to look my dogs over, a routine physical exam.

| ![]() If I had ANY doubt at all, I wouldn't do it---no way. Why not just call your vet & get their opinion? |

| ![]() Is this a Licensed Vet giving these Rabies Vac's?? For it to be completely legal it must be a Vet giving the vac's. Since this is not I would be suspicous that maybe these vac's expiration dates are getting short? You would have no way of knowing that. You also have no way of knowing how these vac's have been stored either. I would not chance it all. I would have your regular vet give the shot, they also give you the Rabies Certificate as well.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Apparently the Vet and some of her staff comes every sat from 9:30-11:30 and they do give a licensed certificate with the vaccine tag.... But yes I agree it still seems too weird. I just hope that who eve goes really researches it WELL before going this route :/

| ![]() They do a reduced rate rabies clinic here as well. I'm not sure if a vet does those or not. I would think the vaccine would be the same. Where I live, we have skunks with rabies. The clinic provides people a discounted rate to get the shot. I think the world now a days makes up suspicious whenever we hear the word free. But surely it is a good thing for some pets?? I don't know? But I guess it is the same as going to our Coop and giving the shot themself?

| ![]() Petco does this regularly and it is a vet that gives the shot. If you get there when it starts the wait is not long. You get the certificate and tag. Convenient and lots cheaper.

| ![]() I chastise myself at intervals....I have become so very suspicious about things people do.....I would hate to think I am misjudging this vet and her associates, that are trying to do a wonderful public service for people that have no way to pay for a rabies shot. Personally, I can not say I would never do this or take advantage of this service.....Currently, I am not in the financial position where this type of service would be necessary.....with reactions to vaccines seemingly on the rise, I will opt to take my crew to their vet for their rabies shots (if titers indicate it is needed). I like to compare the amount of the "free" service, with the "cost" of my time....standing in line for 3 hours??? I will pay for the shot at my vet! |

| ![]() Way back before I knew anything about dogs, we had a chi mix and we took him to one of those reduced rabies clinics..There was a licensed vet there doing the vaccines, and we never had any issues..Now though, we always go to the vet ...
