Well that may be so. But surely a rational defense can be made, which can include the MARS test as part of the defense. If let us say the MARS test comes back with oh lets take a reasonable guess of only 10% Yorkie, and much heavier percentages of other breeds in it, while not scientifically proven (yet), it is rather persuvasive coupled with exemplars of the breed standard at appropriate comparable ages.

WE should be getting a whole lot closer to accurate DNA mapping of all purebreds, perhaps even in our lifetime we shall see this.

Talk to your vet is the way I would go. Let them do either the cheek swab or the blood testing for DNA analysis, and use the lab they trust to do this.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: I agree, if you're in any doubt about your technique, or if you might use the results to challenge the breeder, I'd have it done by the vet. There are home tests that can be done, but if you go that route, you have to be VERY careful not to cross-contaminate the sample. That means wearing latex gloves when taking the cheek swab, and doing the swab first thing in the morning before the puppy has eaten anything, because the DNA from food can contaminate the sample. Just wanted to clear this part up. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is the mother club for the Yorkie, and the YTCA writes the standard, and uses the AKC as its official registry and so the AKC uses this standard in its dog shows. No registry has the power to write a standard, only the mother club has this power.

As far as getting DNA results on your dog, I believe money and time would be better spent seeking out a good breeder and developing a relationship with her. Buy the breeder then the dog.

Sticking my nose in but I have a rat terrier. The snout or nose on this pup is VERY similar along with the ears. Not my place here I know. But its been. Bugging me and wanted to mention it.

I have cross compared CKC (Canadian Kennel Club), AKC, and UKC. The standards are pretty comparable, baring some issues that are either larger or smaller dependent upon your point of view.

I would have to look deeper into the UKC to see who is the mother club recognized there. Interesting point now that you brought it to my attention.

AKC recognizes the YTCA as the National club or if you will Mother club for the YT's in America.

Right now for me as a breeder I will cross register with the AKC. The dog owner can easily then register with the UKC if they so wish to do so.

AKC is still in my mind the pre-eminent dog registry in the States.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Absolutely! My Bella came from a reputable breeder and I have no intention of forking over money for a DNA purity test because I know she's 100% Yorkie. Shelter dogs are another matter though, and also, unfortunately, some people bought their dogs before they did all of their research. DNA testing might give them peace of mind in those kinds of situations. And even though DNA testing for genetic defects in dogs is not available yet, it will be someday, and by knowing what breeds of dog are in a puppy's ancestry, it can give the vet an idea of what kinds of health issues could develop in the future.

The OP did pop in a few days ago when we were wondering whether she had the test results yet. At the time, she said that the results would be ready in 15 days. The breeder popped in last night and the OP has not chimed in since then...

I just spent some time reading all these posts. Thank you everyone who understands where I am coming from with all this. There has never Ben one ounce of regret or hate twords Minnie. Cristina knew from the moment I met her at two weeks old it was love at first sight. I never once bashed her. I gave the benefit of the doubt for a while. I did question her after minnie was about 13 weeks or so and felt so bad afterwords but then a few weeks later I again messaged her on two different numbers a very casual message and heard nothing. i honestly just want to know either way because I'd love to know what to tell people. Instead of we're just waiting for her fluff to come in. and also she knew that s yorkie was my dream dog and I didn't pay for a mix I psid for a purebred. cristina knew when i questioned her the first time my love for her no matter what. That I just wanted the truth. Also the first time i contacted her she said if thevresults came back that she was a purebred she wanted Minnie back and I got scared. I would never want to give her back she out family now and forever. So when I heard nothing the second time I figured its now or never w the dna test. Minnie is only 3 lbs and whether she's purebred or not I wouldn't breed her because of her size if she was bigger and decided to breed her it wouldn't b for money either it b add another member to our family not for money but none of thst matters Minnie is perfect and amazing and 3 lbs but she also has demodex which is an automatic answer for me there. Our family is truley blessed each Abd every day w Minnie no matter what the outcome is. When the results are in on her either way I will cross thst bridge when we get there and do whst I need to do in either circumstance. Thanks again for everyone's thoughts opinions and kindness twords this whole situation. If anyone else has any input please feel free to send it my may it honestly really helps and means alot.

I have nothing to hide here and getting bashed from her was a lil shocking because I never once did that to her I simply was asking questions and stating facts but maybe she's a lil worried I have no idea. You are not a bad person. so do not let her make you feel anything other then you are a good person. You took her for her word. There are thousands of little yorkie puppies being born every year with the same look to them and Minnie does not look like them. For her to say that your sweet pup is one she is being untruthful. You are now going to find out in a few weeks. Do not let her make you feel bad for what you are doing. You paid money for a pure bred you should get what you paid for.

I am really sorry to say this is one for the reasons we direct people that are looking for a pure bred yorkie to the YTCA website for reputable breeders. I am glad you are standing up for yourself. You should be proud. Hugs to you and Minnie
