| Possible Hawk Deterent http://http://www.duncraft.com/Solar-Nite-Guard I have just ordered the tape, but not gotten it yet, so can't speak to its affectiveness. Just thought I would share.

| I got the tape about a month and a half ago. I'm not going to say it works, but I will say that I haven't had a hawk circling right over my back yard and head since. However, I've still had an owl fly very very low over my head (and Mandie's) in the middle of my yard around dusk...so the tape obviously isn't scaring off that owl. I think the night guard (you have to have 4 pointing in 4 directions) is a cool idea, but I see it only working on night predators - like owls, coyotees, etc. Bottom line is, I will try multiple things and everything. I quit putting the orange vest on Mandie because I was worried it was breaking her hair, but after the owl incident..she wears it again. I carry my "pop-out" umbrella with us at night. I have the tape all around my yard and I never take my eyes off the skies for those hawks.

| I have those owl statues all over my yard....I have 6 of them, in different areas...they telll you that you have to reposition them at intervals or the hawks will catch on that they are not real and will start to threaten your yard again. Since I have had those moving owls positioned all over the yard, I have not had the problem with hawks sitting on my fence, waiting for us to go outside....I also removed all bird feeders, which attracted squirrels and small song birds that the hawks prey on..... |

| The owl with the rotating head does not protect my yard at all. I put it near my fountain to keep the crows out and they totally ignore it. I even bought those holographic scare tape strips and put them everywhere to keep birds out of my cherry and apple trees but they didn't work either. I'm at a total loss!

| This really sucks that our dogs can't be dogs. I haven't been able to take my yorkies outside for quite some time now as I've seen way too many hawks around, even had a few swoop down close by. They really miss being out in the yard but I can't chance it. We do have a screened porch that they love, it is the closest to the outside they get now. So I am trying to figure out a solution for at least part of the yard. I heard the tape only works when it is moving pretty good so if you have a day with hardly no breeze it won't work.
