Let's see..the ferrets had their own bedroom. That was really the only thing I considered "different". Toto had a psychic and his Mommy was very much like us in how she talked - she feels it is her responsibility to make his life as happy as possible. She definitely lives for her Toto

| Never seen the show, but I don't get Nat Geo Wild anymore on my cable but sometimes I hate shows like this because then people automatically lump anyone who really loves their dog into the 'crazy' category. Because, believe me, I do think people can be a bit nutso!! This reminds me of an episode I saw of It's Me or the Dog with Victoria Stillwell and I remember there was owner who had out of control little dogs. They were always pooping all over the house and such. BUT, they were showing her brushing her dogs teeth, and combing their hair and putting it up in a topknot, and she would homecook their food and stuff and I remember Victoria giving this like face when she saw them brushing their teeth? I mean, yes they weren't the best trained dogs in the world and they had a pottying and barking issue but they WERE being taken care of. Went to vet when needed, nails were clipped, being fed good food... and there was another where she was making this one person throw away all her dog clothes except for one jacket.Like, I see nothing wrong with all these extras and accessories and whatnot, SO LONG as the dog is still "getting to be a dog" and being taken care of, and not simply used as an accessory. I mean, I say Jackson is 'spoiled' sometimes. When I see him over on my bed, with his legs straight up in the air, tongue hanging out fast asleep, I'm like 'you're spoiled rotten!' He also has a bagillion collars, he's got some cute hoodies, shirts and jackets, and yep I brush his teeth for health reasons, I get him groomed every 8 weeks or so, I like to get him checked yearly for bloodwork, etc, he's very well taken care of. But really the reason I feel he's more spoiled is because he gets to do a lot. I'm constantly finding new places for us to walk and explore, or swim, or we're visiting family and friends together, he's always got something going on and is having a blast. He's really got an amazing life. So, spoiled? Sure. But more-so because he gets to do a lot of things that probably 85% of family pets will never get a chance to experience, not because I think he's an actual human child or anything like that. He's very much a dog's dog. But he also gets tip top care and a lot of the most 'expensive' things, not necessarily because I'm some kind of a diva, just because I enjoy spending my well earned money on him and enjoy buying him nice things and the the like. That's more for MY sake than him. Does he care what kind of collars he's wearing? Clothes? Harnesses? Nope! lol. So I consider that more spoiling myself.

I've been putting clothes on my Ruby now for over a year. She doesn't mind one bit. I cant say that my fur butts are lavishly spoiled to the point of going overboard but within my means and they are very well taken care of. And yes my family would even categorizeme as a bit crazy. Plus, I dont think that the clothes are the issues with some of these people. It's all the other whacko' stuff that they do that gets me. I mean I have really seen some crazy Sh*t on these shows that just makes ya wanna shake your head and say WTF.

| If I remember that woman on IMOTD, and her kid - or kids -were terribly unhappy with the dogs and how much time their mother spent on them and that the dogs were running the house - they couldn't even have in friends because of the wild dogs. They barked nonstop. Their excitement level was off the charts all the time and they were getting into fights. And she was feeding the dogs tea with sugar and milk in it at teatime, actually served in cups or little bowls, bought them ice cream from the ice cream truck every day, the dogs were never walked and some were fighting and one dog was being made miserable by the others. She had a favorite dog she especially favored. Her teenage children couldn't even kiss her for the dogs barging in and running them off as she gloried in all their attention and didn't care her kids were unhappy or left out it seemed. Those dogs bounced all over and barked at everything - wasn't one growling and nipping a lot, on its way to aggression, as they were so terribly underexercised and untrained. And she had 5 or 6 dogs in this small little house and none of them got any exercise ever, were overweight - but she spent a huge part of her day shopping for and preparing all these huge homecooked meals while her kids got frozen dinners. I remember she also did change the dogs clothes and groomed them, etc. - things that she wanted to do with her dogs. Victoria told her something like these are dogs - they are wild because they are treated like pampered, spoiled children and your children like dogs or something to that effect. She started her and the kids walking them two or three times a day(as I remember, the lady hated walking them), taught the dogs to behave when the doorbell sounded and how to give the family space when the kids approached the mother or visitors. She also stopped the sugared teas and ice cream cones and told her what damage all that sugar was doing to her dogs. As I recall, there was dog hair everywhere as they were all shedders. Weren't there peepads full all over the floor? Can't remember if that was the same show though. Looked like a nightmare life for 5 or 6 little dogs all closed up together mostly in that one small living room with no rules or boundaries or exercise or any type of leadership at all. I for one bet that woman went right back to her old habits before too long, if I'm remembering that show right and how little she seemed to know or care about trying to keep things orderly or stop her dogs' OT behavior.

| My dogs are spoiled, but not spoiled rotten. Spoiled is cute, spoiled rotten makes me think they're over compensating for something and I find it disgusting and disturbing.
