| My 3 I have now are all adopted. My Willow she is going 8 yrs old we adopted her from a Rescue Group in Nov. 2010. She was a Breeder release to the Rescue. My Allie was an owner turn in to a Rescue Group. She will be 5 in August. We adopted her in March 2011. My Luci was a rehome. A member on here listed her. Luci belonged to her neighbor that needed to find her a home. Luci just turned 5 this past Jan. I took her in last year in May.

| I found mine by researching breeders in my state. We stayed in touch with the breeder and ended up getting a second.

| I had been looking into what breed I wanted for several years. I had watched dog shows and shows on animal planet (dogs 101 to be specific) to figure out what sort of personality and health care and life span would be good. I failed to delve deeper into the various health issues - didn't even think to look deeper. From several years of doing this (after my Pom died and waiting for the time I was ready for another one), I fell in love with the Yorkshire Terrier. I loved their hair! And, I loved their attitude Then, I started looking into getting one. I was not educated back then and seriously thought that I would never pay $1000 or more for a dog from a breeder when I could get one a lot cheaper from a regular "joe". I got another dog for my hubby (who is actually a Mama's boy from day 1 lol) for the time being. I was not in the ideal living situation to really get a Yorkie yet. Then, in June of last year, we finally found a house that was perfect for our family of 3. After living there for 2 months, I realized it was "time"...that my boy needed a playmate, too. So, I did the thing that I warn others not to do. I searched Craigslist. To be honest, I was actually looking for living room furniture for my house lol. I clicked over on pets and there was the ad. It was for a 4 month old Yorkie and was classified as a "teacup." I didn't know there was no such thing. She was in a pic standing next to a gatorade bottle. The owners had bought her from a breeder (probably a byber because I can't find any info on these people based on the info on the CKC paperwork). Anyway, they actually thought she was "teacup" when they had wanted a "regular" Yorkie. She was so small in their eyes that they worried about her being home alone. Both of their work schedules had just changed to very long hours so they wanted her to be with someone who had time to take care of her. I found her at the exact right time. I am so blessed. She could have health issues in the future - who knows? But so far, she has been perfect. She is the perfect weight - 6 lbs and I was just lucky to get her for the price I did. I don't regret how I found her and getting her - not one bit. However, the day I got her, I was concerned about her size and that is how my google searching led me to Yorkie Talk! So I was blessed x2! In the future, now that I am educated, I will either adopt or buy from a breeder I have researched. But I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for how I found Mandie and the "reason" they were letting her go

| Mine came from a broker before I even knew what that was. My grandparents had been in Texas for months with my uncle who was in a coma and had his legs amputated and they felt bad about being away from me for so long. I live with my grandparents so my parents stayed at our house the whole time. Anyway I wanted a dog/puppy because I had grown up at my parents house with them but my grandma has copd and I started having allergies with one of the dogs I had grown up with so I came across the Yorkie and how it would be a good dog for my grandmas copd and my allergies but I did not do a lot of research. My grandparents felt bad so they said yes. Then my mom called pretty much any number we found that advertised Yorkies and we found one guy and were going to meet him at a Micky ds in two days. We got to the Micky ds and sat forever and finally called the guy who we hadn't seen but had been there and left well he came back took out a play pen and put all the female Yorkie pups he had in the play pen. One of them seemed to really like me and that is the one I chose. Mom paid and we headed home of course she didn't ride in the brand new pink carrier but in my arms. She intently bonded to me and when we got home we were on the floor for many hours before I came up with a name. I did research after finding yt and it turns out where she actually came from was an Amish puppy mill. It makes me sad but I could not imagine my life with out her. The hardest part is when I have to watch her suffer from something that could have been avoided if the breeder just cared weather he was breeding healthy dogs and that's what makes me mad at puppy mills and bad breeders.

| My Lexie was a retired breeding dog from a show breeder. She was 5, and since i really didn't want a puppy, she was perfect. i was open to the rescue idea, but wanted to try & find an adult girl from a good breeder first. i had several lined up to go see, and Lexie was the first. needless to say, I cancelled all the other appointments after visiting her. It was mutual love at first sight!

| When my Chloe passed away a few months back, she was 13, the house was unbearably quiet - I cried all the time, missing her terribly... I was on Kijji one day looking for hockey tickets, and I scrolled over to the pets. For days I was drawn to the pet section. Then it happened, a 7 month male Yorkie needed to be rehomed because the male in the house hated dogs! I fell in love instantly with his picture - he was already UTD on all his shots, neutered & potty trained! I talked to my family, sent and email to the owner and the following week drove the 3hr trip to pick him up - We fell in love instantly, he was adorable and took to my husband immediatly, craving his attention. Well its been two weeks, and Enzo (we renamed him) has been a god send to our house! He was our blessing in disguise. A new dog doesn't replace an old one, it just takes an empty piece of your heart and fills it

| My friend was given a yorkie/ maltese and her friend wanted one so when the breeder had another litter, they went down to pick one out. I don't know why but my friend bought the rest of the litter. She says it is because she knew others would want one. When I saw teddy I fell in love and paid her the cost of the pup. I wanted to get teddy a playmate so when she had another litter, (breeder has two a year one from each female) I was planning on getting one of the girls but when I met the pups bear ended up fitting us better so know I have two little boys. These are the first pups I have bought all the rest of my animals are rescues. |

| Our 9 yr old yorkie Ginger came from a small mom and pop owned pet store in Bellevue, Nebraska. We wanted a small dog and just happened to find her from an ad the store ran in the Saturday newspaper. Our 4 yr old yorkie Maggie came from a breeder in Kansas. Her daddy was looking around online and found her on the breeder's website. She had a sad story with her being the last of her litter and she had a small hernia. The breeder was selling her for half price because of this. Her daddy wouldn't let her go so we went to Kansas (6 1/2 hours drive each way) and got her. She is daddy's girl too! Go figure!

| I had a sheltie for years that I had to have put to sleep due to kidney disease. After that I didn't want another dog for a while but about 2 years later I was ready. I knew I wanted another small dog so I started checking out the toy breeds and had narrowed it down to either a Yorkie or a Maltese. I decided to start looking for Yorkies first and I found the link for the YTCA on the AKC website. There was only one breeder, Dottie Naegele, in the state of Arkansas so I gave her a call. She has bred Yorkies for over 40 years and had many champions throughout the years. She had one male who was 6 months old and she had kept him because she was planning to show him however her husband was going through an illness and she was unable to attend many shows. I drove to her house and it was LOVE at first site and that's how I got Sasha. When he was about two I decided I would like another one so I called Mrs. Dottie again but she didn't have any puppies and since she only breeds once or twice a year it would be a while before she had any available. However she had bred one of her dogs with another breeder in Memphis so off I went and that's how I came home with my second boy Simba. Sadly Mrs. Dottie moved out of the state a few years ago when her husband passed away. Hopefully it will be many years before I have to think about getting another puppy. Mine have both promised me that they will live forever, LOL! |

| My first yorkie was a owner surrender to our rescue. Prada had a few issues. The first owners called her Pirranah. Since she had biting and aggression issues it was decided I would keep her because of liability problems. She'd been with me around 3 weeks when she was stolen from my 6 foot high wooden fenced yard. She was microchipped and had tags from the rescue and mine. There was no way she couldn't have been identified. A friend at the rescue knew how upset I was about Prada. She had a friend through another rescue who was looking for a home for her own yorkie due to the health issues of one of her other dogs. When Izzy came to live with us she also brought her older brother Elvis for support. Izzy was very shy. I got them last sept/oct and she is finally bonded very securely to me. Elvis went back for a week but is still with me. Technically he isn't mine but don't tell him that. Niko came at 6 days. Someone who had 2 yorkies thought it was a good idea to breed them. The male was 5-6 lbs and the female was 4 lbs. The owner was out of time when she went into labor and the person watching her waited too late. Niko was born first. The second puppy died before they could do a section, mom got septic and died a day and a half later. They did bottle feed but we'rent able to continue. The wanted our rescue to feed him and adopt him out. Right. With a lot of advice from experienced breeders he did wonderful. He just turned 5 months old yesterday and I adore him. He thinks everyone was put on earth to worship him. I consider him one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given. |

| I was searching for a small dog and never considered a yorkie because I heard they were yappy. After months and months of searching there was an add in the paper for yorkie pups. I called and found ou she was 5 minutes away so I went over to see them. There were 5 adorable babies and I fell in love!!! I played with them all for over an hour until I picked out my baby Ellie . I sent a pic to my hubby and he fell in love too, I had to wait an agonizing 2 months to get her but it was worth the wait! The lady bred her two yorkies and offered them at a much lower price than normal because she said she wasn't registering them or cutting their tales so she could place them with good families who just wanted a pet and I got to meet her adorable parents! I always say it was meant to be . |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I have an 11 year old German Shepherd and a 5 year old Rat Terrier. My husband and I know that Bella (the Rat Terrier) is going to grieve when our sweet Julia crosses the Rainbow Bridge eventually. We thought it would be good to get a new baby so that when the time comes, which we hope will be a long time off still, it might not be so hard for her. I have always wanted a Yorkie but could never afford one. The hubby told me he would buy me one for my birthday in October. So I started making up a list of possible names and started my research. Well one night I was unable to sleep and was searching for breeders within a certain range. When I came across this site that had the most precious face I had ever seen!!! So I did what any wife would do at around 1:00 in the morning...I woke up my husband begging to get this beautiful baby boy now because he'd be gone by October, right?!? Lol And in his deep stupor he agrees. Two weeks later we make a road trip traveling 4 hours. He is AKC registered, up to date on his shots and is micro-chipped. He has the most playful and loving personality. We were at the vet today for our next set of vaccinations and he weighs 2.75 lbs at 15 weeks and is doing great. The vet believes he will weigh between 6 & 7 lbs when he reaches his full weight. Sorry for running on. I'm still so excited to have him. I never thought I would. But at 51 years old, he's all mine. I'm also disabled so he is such a great distraction for my pain. Well...that's our story and this site has been so helpful to me. I'm so glad I found it. It's like finding new friends. Thanks everyone!!!
