				   | do you shave the hair on the ears? looking at everyones pic i kept wondering why nala looked so different (and had such big looking ears) and i finally realized most yorkies on here don't have hair on their ears. nala is going to the groomer soon so i was wanting to know what to tell her about how to do it "correctly" if anyone has any close up pics of it please post so i can print them and show the groomer. |

				   | I personally think it looks much better with hair on the ears, I took emma to the groomer and they buzzed them and now that they are growing back it looks much better. Just preference though. |

				   | Some shave 1/3 off the ear, it takes weight off there ears and helps them to stand. I take my two to Petco and get a quick cut, it is $8.00, they shave the top of the ears. there privates, around there face and clips there nails. I bath them at home, some kennels at groomers have to big of gaps between and there paws can go through and they panic and can get hurt. I don't leave mine I walk with one when the other get trimed. I know all Petco's are different, the groomer at mine I like a lot and she loves Maddie and Rudy.............Cindy |

				   | I go to Petco as well and they have always "tipped" the ears about 1/3 down the ear. I was told Gracie's ears my never stand because the bases are wide. If you look at most Yorkies they have thing triangle ears...Gracie has a triangle but its very wide otwards her head and its hard for them to be supported. Funny thing is both her parents had very thin ears and they werre perved. I was told there would be a chance they might stand but not permnantly.... |

				   | nala's ears have quite a bit of hair on them and they've been up almost 2 months now. i think they look cuter without hair (or really short) i attempted to cut it myself one ear looks pretty good but by the time i got to the other ear she was getting nervous and had them laying back so it was kinda hard. |

				   | You have to use clipers...just shave the tips for about 1/3 of the ear. Then just trim around the shape to make it look cute! It is fairly easy once you get the hang of it! |

				   | you can do it yourself very easy....it takes about 5 minutes and it does keep the ears from drooping... Wahls clippers $19.95 at BiMart...online $39.95 at Wahls website(if you don't have a bimart try walmart) the actual shave pattern is an upside down "V" on both the inside and outside hair of the ear.

				   | Feminvstr- Thanks for some good info. I need to do this to my pup. The vet does not want me taking him to groomer until hes had all his shots. I am gonna have to look for those clippers.

				   | I agree I wouldnt take him to a groomer without his shots even avoid letting him on the floors in other places (except your home) until he has his vacination. A breeder/show person here took her dog to the dog show to have a handler take a look at him...long story short the puppy got Kennel Cough and died in December (which is very rare for this to happen). So where ever you go the puppy isnt safe until he has all his shots.

				   | http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store....6447e39cc8146d $23.70 http://www.wahlanimalstore.com/produ...WAH%209160-503 $29.95 (just found this site) http://www.bimart.com/?id=24OWYd9v2DFl&browse=3050106 $19.97 here is the pic comes in black or red...its perfect for the ears, the paws and bottom...just be careful you can easily clip the hair if used properly dont turn the clipper on edge of blade because you can cut the ear it self...always move across the hair front and back of ear like I said and 1/3 down the ear untill you make an upside down V for those who go to groomers watch your groomer do it next time so you do it properly

				   | I clip my Snoodles ears with a horse trimmer for the legs. It looks like a mustache trimmer, but lasts longer. I got it at quality supply and am really happy with it. For some reason, Snoodles will be really good to have her ears trimmed (1/3 down), but comb her legs and CUJO! Will she ever ride in the car without whining, or let me comb her without struggling? Doubt it! Ha Pat |
