Luckily the Pet store we had that sold pups closed down a couple years ago but the Amish still sell puppies at out local farmers market. I also had no idea there where two petlands a couple hours away from me yuck. Wish we could get a law passed that pet stores could not sell puppies.

I think you have to be careful when you look at the map. Red is bad, they sell puppies, green is fine, they only work with adoptions. It clearly says "Where to shop, and not to shop." They are only saying don't give your business to the red business, instead spend your money to support the green places.

This is a great resource. We used to have a Petland, but it closed because so few people supported it. I think we need to start making a bigger deal about the other animals that are sold at pet stores (reptiles, rabbits, mice etc). They are not treated well either

Agreed, I saw that and wondered why they were on the list. I read something on another site about them arranging for puppy sales,but I've never seen any animals for sale in there. We did have a pet store that had been around a long time near my house that sold pups...they had yorkies, it was heartbreaking. They were voted best pet store in the county by a local rag. Fortunately, a few years back, they changed ownership, moved and started hosting adoption events. No more puppy sales, yay!

There were 5 within a 100 mile radius from my hometown with the nearest two in Sevierville TN and Morristown,TN. I knew of the one at the mall in Morristown and never shop there and didn't know about the one in Sevierville. The one in Knoxville (Puppy Zone) I had heard of because of the Knoxville tv stations have bad reports about them all the time.

They have tractor supply in my area that sells puppies. They don't. They do adoption.

Was that store off of Union? There was one there who used to sell puppies. But their rent got too high (technically in Los Gatos) so they moved elsewhere. This was probably 15ish years ago. I have NO idea where they went...maybe it was the same place and they moved closer to you?

Are you sure that is how they have it listed? They had tractor supply all over my page but then I realized it was "green" and that meant they don't sell, but adopt. The ones that sell were in "red".

If they really did get it wrong, let them know because that is definitely not fair to Tractor Supply, who is a great company for adopting out animals
