What gets your pups riled up and crazy Most dogs will go a bit crazy when the doorbell rings or they see a dog walk by, aside from that what else stirs your dog up. Lola has gotten crazy over the venetian blinds. I mean crazy, if she hears you even touch them, let alone pull them up or down she comes running and starts to attack them. The other day she was on the lower level sound asleep, I very quietly tried to pull one up, in a nano second she was up the stairs and underneath them. She barks like crazy, jumps the highest I have ever seen her jump, up and down like a pogo stick to get at them. At first I thought it was funny so I kept pulling them up and down but she got a hold of them and tore several of the slats. They are cheap plastic ones, but still the bottom pieces are now all in half:D. After the attack on the blinds she is still hyped up and circles underneath them for quite a while just hoping I will pull them again. She will even run into another room and stand underneath one of the windows with blinds, just looking up waiting for something to happen:p We have very few window coverings and hardly put them down so she does not get the chance often. If I had to do this every day I would have to start locking her in another room so the blinds would not get ruined. So what makes your fur kids go crazy |
Mailman, UPS truck, the tape measure, cats, squirrels, doorbells, other dogs,Us coming in the house from being gone,The ice cream truck because they want an ice cream they cry and whine for that one |

That's cute Donna. Rosie and Ruby especially Ruby goes crazy over typical doorbell stuff. The only thing kind of different is when we come home after being gone for the weekend they go wild when they see the cats again...jumping on them and licking them. I never see their tails and butts wiggle so fast as when they get home to their cats!!! :) |
Mailman, Fed X truck, UPS truck, doorbell and when my husband comes home on his Harley. They know the sound of his Harley and don't bark at others going by....only his. |

All of the above plus one brave squirrel with a sense of humor! She'll bark at the squirrel through the patio door and he looks right back at her like "haha you can't get me". It's really funny. |

My 3 get all riled up when I call out for Pizza delivery. I think it may be the tone of my voice when I order pizza.... because they just KNOW. As soon as I hang up, they all go running to the front door barking and then sit on the ottoman (which gives them a clear view of the front door). Of course the barking starts again when the pizza is delivered. I must admit, I sometimes hide in the bedroom when I order pizza to prevent all the craziness! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
another thing that gets Lola going is the really large exercise ball, She is crazy about that thing, she loves to push it all over the house, we bounce it a bit for her and she goes wild pushing it everywhere barking the whole time. We have to be careful because she pushes it so hard she knocks things over like small end tables. She just loves when we bounce it. I can't leave it out anymore, so when not in use I keep it in my Jacuzzi bathtub. Now when I lay on the floor to use it, it is even more of a challenge because she starts butting it with her head and nose so hard trying to knock it out of my hands especially if I am lifting it up and down. All my other dogs were scared silly about the exercise ball, they would run and hide, not my Lola she seems scared of nothing. I really need to get videos of these crazy behaviors, they are very funny. |

oh yes balloons do that to a lot of pups, just try to attach it to their collar and see what happens. I did a stupid thing at friends house 20 years ago that I regret to this day. I tied a balloon to her maltese's collar and the pup took off like a mad dog running everywhere trying to get away from the balloon. He ran under tables, jumped up on things, knocking things over. We were trying to catch him and a glass got knocked over spilling red wine on her light colored cloth couch, Oh my that was a mess. I felt so embarrassed and just awful, I brought over a gift certificate for furniture cleaning along with a floral arrangement the next day trying to make amends, she was very nice about it, but I am sure she was holding back how she really felt. |
Anything that's out of it's proper place makes Cinders go crazy! She barks at it- jumps so SHE can move it back, bumps on my leg then runs to where the item is, barking the whole time like she's saying "HEY! This isn't where it should be woman!! Move it back! NOW!" If it's me sitting in the wrong place- aka Daddy's chair-, she whines at me, won't let me pick her up to sit with me, and paces between the couch and the chair trying to get me to move to my proper place. :) |
everything..after a nap! |
Door Bell, Squirrels, any new BIG item that may be brought into the house, things that have been moved around. And my Luci does not like it when people enter HER house. She goes crazy. |
My cat and my husband lol. Chewbacca will run in circles after my cat and then the cat chases hi. He chases cat cat chases him. It is quite funny and can go on for over an hour sometimes. And when my husband comes home from work he gets so excited he coughs and sneezes lol |
Yes! Things that have been moved around, that drives P-Nut bonkers - including cars he doesn't recognize in our driveway or driveways of our neighbors. He also goes nuts about squirrels, raccoons, possum and skunks. And people using "assistive devices" such as canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs. Oh....and German Shepherds. |
I have laughed at every comment so much I had my eyes watering. So funny. Amy goes spastic when I ask if she wants to go for a walk. She is so excited she starts running all over the house I have to say treat to get her up in the chair to put the leash on her. Whem we come back ib the house she goes spastic and run around and around the dining room table until she fibally lays down and naps. |
Hmmmmm, I think the only thing that sets ours off is going outside! Teeka especially gets so excited and barks non stop till she gets out the door. We are trying to nip this in the bud as it is annoying and ear piercing! Although it is so cute to watch her run to greet her yorkie cousins. She can hardly wait until I open the door for her to run in the house and greet them all. She loves to play! :) |
I just thought of something else that Lola does that my last yorkie did as well, anything being wheeled gets her going. I often have her on a leash when I wheel my trash cans to the curb, she starts running in circles trying to bite and attack the wheels, same thing with the dolly or the wheelbarrow, just siting there is fine but as soon as we start to move them her attack begins. Another thing that gets her wound us is remote cars. I have a neighbor that has several and boy does she love to chase them. Great way to give her some exercise if I am feeling lazy, once we put in our fence I think I am going to get one for her and my DH to play with |
Harnesses and chews -- if I bring out either of those, the boys go crazy with excitement. I like the ice cream truck and pizza delivery. Those are funny! |
Other than the normal stuff, her brother when he has ANYTHING. It doesn't matter what he has..toy or treat..if he is laying down with it, she HAS to have it. She will run in circles around him and yell at him. Poor guy, eventually he will get tired of it and walk away..leaving whatever he had for her. Mandie is such a bully! :D |
Hazel goes crazy for animals on TV ~ she is completely addicted to the show "Too Cute Puppies" on the Animal Planet. |

Reading over some of these posts, I can't help but wonder if our little babies have some bit of OCD... Jack goes crazy with the normal - doorbell, just even say the word "squirrel" and he runs to the back door barking (its kind of cute actually), mailman, UPS, FedEx, big cars/trucks that go down the road. Izzy besides the above with wanting everything Jack has, goes crazy with two of our cats - whenever they move, she has to investigate and inevitably will bark her little head off at them and she does this bouncing thing - it actually looks like she is rocking from her front paws to her back paws while she barks and when the cats run, she and Jack (who joins in the harrassment at some point) will take off in hot pursuit. |
these stories are all so funny. I had a pair of yorkies once, the female Murphy was sort of lazy and did not play much, but she also did not like Duffy the male to play. So anytime fetch would start she would get out of her bed and get in the middle between him and myself. She would start growling and try to bite him as he ran by, Duffy was the sweetest little fellow and he would just keep playing and ignore her, it was very funny to watch, it was about the only thing that would rile her up, even the door bell would not rouse her from her bed. |

We have a double door refrigerator with the built in ice machine on the outside of the door whenever hazel hears someone in the kirchen getting ice in an empty cup she runs into the kitchen and starts barking(the ice is kind of loud in an empty glass) we have to warn our guests if you plan on getting a drink please make sure liquid goes into the cup before the ice unless you want hazel to go ballistic lol they just look at us with a look that says, umm ok so your yorkie made that rule? |
I am starting to think Lola has a ton of things that get her going. I just finished taking a shower and it reminded me of something else she does. She must have super sonic hearing, because she was sleeping on the other end of the house yet as soon as I started to squeegee the shower door she was right there jumping against the glass trying to get that nasty squeegee thing, thankfully this does not seem to get her barking and after several stern no's she will settle down. Anyone else's pup do that? This also happens if I am outside and try to Windex the sidelights on my front door, or sweep my porch, My last dog Kirby did that as well, but was even worse so I started to lock him in the laundry room if I went to do anything on the front porch. One thing Lola does not do often is attack the vacuum. |
