| My poor Rosie is so scared! I adopted a rescue about 6 weeks ago. She is so sweet and adorable! Mrs. Beasley and Rosie get along so well as if they have always been together. I took Rosie to the vet for her microchip and also got a "calming" collar. (I posted about what was written on my forehead). The collar is not working I think she is just as bad as before the collar. Poor little girl. My next step is a thunder shirt. I do realize that 6 weeks is not long enough to chang her behavior. She has spent her entire life in a cage having puppies. I just hurt for her because she shakes almost constantly and is so scared. Any advice on thunder shirts?

| Well first of all - bless your heart for taking Rosie in!!! I'm so sorry she has had the life she has. Poor baby I don't have any experience with the thunder shirt so I can't offer any advice. I did want to say that I've read on here about certain sprays for the room that tend to have a calming effect. Have you tried any of those?

| Jan hopefully members here can tell you about using a thunder shirt. There was also something that you plug in to help calm them. Does anyone remember reading about this??

| Thank you all so much for your replies. Tonight I put a onesie on her, hoping she might feel safer. I am considering bring in the travel crate and just leave it open. Maybe she will feel safer if she has somewhere to go. Thanks again. I will keep posting as to her progress.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so glad she found you. Pixie is scared of thunder, planes etc. I have had good luck with the thunder shirt. Just 30 minutes ago a loud plane went over and she jumped into my lap and was shaking so hard. I put her thunder shirt on and she calmed down after a few minutes. I hope you can find something that helps poor Rosie.

| What drives her over the edge the most? What things specifically send her into shaking, licking and isolating?

| My first rescue, Annie B, was so completely freaked out over all the sight and smell stimulation. Even being on the grass made her a wreck. I quickly learned her triggers and found that simply being up off the floor helped her. So I made her a safe place on the couch with some blankets that came up high all around so that she could burrow down into them. It took her nearly a year & a half to get comfortable with her new life. She blossomed into such a social butterfly once she gained trust in me to keep her safe. My last rescue, Bonnie, would get over stimulated with all the activity in the house. She loved small little cubby's that she could run to when she felt threatened. I made sure there were places all over the house set up for her to use whenever she wanted. Eventually, something as simple as the corner in the kitchen became a safe place to nap. Look for the triggers, try to remove them if possible and try to find what helps her feel safe. Remember, everything is so new and so big and so over the top to her right now. Give her time, you and Mrs. Beasley will get her to understand what a wonderful new life she has.

| Awww, bless her little heart, I feel for you and Rosie. Yazmin went through big changes when I returned to work a few months ago. She was suffering from separation anxiety. Thankfully with suggestions from the wonderful members here, she made it through the changes and is now doing fine. I'm hoping that if I include my original thread, you may find some or all the suggestions helpful for Rosie also. As you will see, I was willing to try anything and everything to calm my baby down. I purchased a Thundershirt from Karen (Maximo) and noticed immediately how much it calmed Yazmin down. Putting her bed in a covered crate made her feel more secure also. Praying you'll find answers for Rosie. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ck.htmlmembers |

I agree, this product worked great for Yazmin also. Fortunately I was able to find it at local pet store, Petco. Comfort Zone Diffuser with D.A.P. for Dogs at PETCO | |
