Please check our ytca.org it is the mother club for Yorkies they do not support the word teacups and they are the ones who set the breed standard and everything. Good breeds are part of the ytca and follow there rules.

Absolutely and shame on all of those who in anyway help to perpetuate this needless suffering of animals...those who support/purchase/condone byb, greeders, puppymills, and Petstores. SHAME ON THEM.

The issue of puppymills is far larger than just the puppymills. If only we had ONE issue to focus on when it comes to the welfare of animals and how people treat them as commodities. Unfortunately, that's very far from where we are at as a society - evidence of which can be seen in this thread and elsewhere.

I'd post the information shown in that thread but it's very long & very complete. It was a joint effort written by one of our members to help educate people between the differences of a "good" breeder & those that are not so good. There is also a page that will give you tips on recognizing what a great breeder is. Unfortunately, the greats are few & far between out there in the big bad world of dog breeders.

Always a peacemaker throughout my life, I never like to see anyone hurt or feel less valued. But I think this has been a valuable thread because there is a lot of education going on. The passion and yes compassion of the people of YorkieTalk makes it difficult for our community to ignore indiscriminate breeding of helpless animals for the sake of the dollar. When we see little babies being bred without considering the health and well-being of these precious dogs and their babies is heartbreaking to us. We owe our dogs our devotion, our care, respect, and our love. Our goal is to educate, help one another, and always do what we can to do what we can to protect dogs of all kinds. I will never be old enough that I don't want to continue to learn, and I have learned so much here. This thread will pop up in the future, and it will serve as an educational resource.

I beg to differ. The definition of a puppy mill is that they are out to make money instead of improving breeding lines. By producing mixed breeds, the breeder you listed is very much a puppy mill.

Yorkies are dogs first and foremost. Proud, intelligent, active, confident, territorial, stubborn, sweet and loving, all wrapped up in a 5-7lb package. Well tempered Yorkies don't just think, they know they are 110 lb dogs.

They are not meant to be carried in purses, but meant to be the proud, intelligent, self-sufficient dog they truly are. They were actually bred to be ratters!

The only time I have ever put my Yorkie in a "purse" was a travel bag, when we flew to Oregon and again to NYC.

The only time I ever picked up my Yorkie outside on his walks, when a Rottie came charging will full intent out of the bush. And that even I was forced into doing, as I had my large dog, charge back, and Razzle was all ready to get into the fray and defend his pack!

Yorkies are fierce beasties, and should be treated with outmost respect. Not relegated to some-ones purse!!!

I have sat back everyday reading this thread. I have kept my thoughts to myself because I believed I am no yorkie expert. Therefore, my opinion doesn't count. But reading this quote, it said everything that I feel. So, even those of us who are just getting started in the wonderful world of yorkies know what is right and what is wrong. Advertising that there is anything close to a teacup in size is so, horribly wrong in so many ways. So many abused mommas used, abused and then discarded like trash all so some person can fool another human being into the belief that the offsprings will live long and healthy lives. All to line their pockets. I could go on and on and on repeating what others have so patiently and passionately expressed.
