"Designer Hybrid Dog Breeder"...in other words "Purposeful Mutt Breeder who cares not for the standard as set forth by the AKC by which all breeders should be breeding their dogs to." Also known as: "Thing 1 and Thing 2 Provider - box not included" I don't care how well known she is, or how many good reviews she has or how healthy her pups might be or how many testimonies there are about wonderful dogs she has bred. A solid and reputable breeder is one who puts the breed they are concentrating their efforts on - at the forefront. A reputable breeder wants to preserve the breed and continue efforts to improve type, health and temperament. I made the mistake of believing a breeder very similar to her 2 years ago, so I am outting myself here. Bella is a "morkie" AKA: pretty little word that means mutt. WE LOVE her with all that we are and we are SO blessed to have her in our lives, but she is a mutt and her breeder is not breeding for the betterment of any breed. I believed all the BS. We are extremely lucky to have a healthy dog, and I know that. NEVER again will I "fall for it" and I suggest you don't either. If you want the full story feel free to PM me. Teacup when used by an "average joe" seems to be 'okay' in the eyes of some people, which is their prerogative. However, where did they hear that term? The only people who use that term in the dog world are the unscrupulous breeders who use it to advertise an underweight and most likely health-risk laden puppy. |

I love threads like this in many ways. They get so much good information dispensed that some might not ever see except as a by-product of the back-and-forth of a thread like this or a tag pulling it up in a Search engine. Here's hoping the discussions here can help get out a lot of good info about certain types of breeders and the dogs they "create" and the dangers of internet sales hype on tricked-out web sites trading in people's dreams. The truth is, often those dreams turn into nightmares when the the money is paid but dogs don't arrive at all, aren't as portrayed or develop any of the myriad of conformation/genetic health problems that unscrupulous breeding practices can produce. |

The real original comes from a 16th century poem, by Thomas Tusser. A foole & his money, be soone at debate: which after with sorow, repents him to late. It was later expressed as a proverb by Dr John Bridge in "Defense of the Government of the Church of England, in 1587: If they pay a penie or two pence more for the reddinesse of them..let them looke to that, a foole and his money is soone parted. (End of my useless knowledge post for today). |
