LOL I don’t think you will find someone that doesn’t agree with you.

I was so mad at Peanut the other night. I have never been this mad. He ran out of the house the other day. He was excited that Dh got home so HE decided he was going to run out to greet him… well he ran right passed DH and went to the neighbors yard.. I ran out as well and followed him. I was calling him along with DH and he looked at us and decided to run down the street!!! About 4 houses down!!! I was able to corner him and tell him to stop- thankfully he listened and let me pick him up.

I was pissed!! I smacked his bum and told him he was a very bad boy! I felt bad after for smacking him, but I wanted to make sure he knew never to do that again… He honestly has never done that.. I am not sure where it came from.

He ignored DH and I the whole night… I just let him be. The next morning he was my baby again.. We will have to be careful now when doors are open, hopefully he has learned his lesson.. because DH and I has learned ours.

When did your dog start barking? Reign knows the command to bark but he looks at me reluctant to do it. However, with other people he has no problem at all. It's always play barks, but I want him to bark as an answer. Like are you hungry? Bark. He's 4 months shouldn't he be barking often by now?

I think it just depends on the dog. Mandie didn't really "find her bark" until she was almost 6 months old. She knows how to use it now and makes up for all that lost time. Let me tell ya!

Think it's a small dog thing in general. Yes big dogs need love protection and care but if push comes to shove a larger dog I think has a better chance of survival on its own. (Big dog lovers don't shoot me. All dogs are equal in my eyes as far as the right to a safe loving INDOOR home. Making a general statement only to make a point. ) I believe God made small dogs extra cute so that their guardians would feel the need to care for them extra special because of their size . But that's just me.
And He hard-wired us to be extra protective of small animals and humans. Funny how it all works together.

Gracie did the same thing to me 3 times when she was a puppy. We live quite a way from the main road and have an access road that comes down to the house. The little stinker would run right up the hill toward the main road like she knew where she was headed each time. I have a serious back issue and can't run very fast. Thankfully I had my kids here and they are much faster than I. It just about makes your heart stop! She was almost to the road one of the times before my daughter caught her. I had looked away because I was sure she was going to reach the road and get hit. She has since learned to sit back away from the door when it is opened but when she was a pup she was determined to to for the high road.
One thing to remember is that if you punish him after you have caught him it will only make it harder to get him if he gets out again. If they think they will be punished once you get a hold of them it makes them much more determined to run.

He may look to you as a mommie substitute or pack leader and need to be older and much more self-confident before he will be comfortable barking at you. If you teach him to bark on command in time, be sure you teach him "quiet" so you can silence him when he's barking like a crazy dog! hehe

I was just thinking this early this morning when I woke up and Louie had his precious Yorkie head lying on my chest. It is crazy how hard I have fallen for the fur ball. He melts my heart daily!

This topic made me laugh. Avery had a routine vet visit today and my husband (who did'nt even want a dog in the beginning, let alone a small one) said to the vet today, "So tell me Doc, isn't Avery the cutest dog you've seen today?"

What a little terd she was LOL- it really does make your heart stop. I know, I have never swatted him, I was just so mad I snapped, I was only mad because he could have gotten really hurt... I know he doesn't know that. I felt so bad for swatting him, I was trying to kiss on him and make him lay with me and he wasn't having any part of it!!

You are not alone! My little Roxy had me from Dec.21st when my 3 sons gave her to me. She is adorable and she makes the DH and I smile everyday. My niece was killed in a car accident in Oct.,2012 and it was pretty rough on my family. When I looked into the little puppies eyes in Dec. the only name that popped into my head was Roxanne and my entire family thinks that she acts just like my niece. She has helped our family move past our tragedy and for that she deserves the best food I can buy, lots of toys and all the attention and love that an only child can take. No doubt she's the boss these days and our mission is to keep her happy. I just can't stop thanking my sons for her and I thank God for the peace that having her has brought to our souls. Peace and Yorkie Blessing To You All!

So sorry for your loss. It's amazing even if they never have an official title of therapy dog how they always seem to be one anyway.

My Bentley helps keep me centered when things get stressful. He was the best medicine for me. To be completely honest I had a bit of a breakdown last summer. Bentley has turned out to be a missing piece of the puzzle in my recovery.

First night of obedience training the teacher gave us this:

God summoned a beast from the field and he said....
"I endow you with the instincts uncommon to other beasts:
faithfulness, devotion, and understanding surpassing those of man himself.
Lest it impair your understanding, you are denied the power of words...
Speak to your master only with your mind and through honest eyes...
So be silent, and be a friend to man...
This shall be your destiny and your immortality." So spake the Lord.
And the dog hear and was content.
