| Emy went through her first heat in November, lasted about 3-4 weeks, she was very swollen and her boobs got very swollen also. She kept herself very clean licking so I didn't notice much discharge, just a little. It wasn't too bad, though it was probably irritating to her....I'm hopefully going to get her spayed before her next heat that is due around May..what do they do when they have a false pregnancy? |

YT 500 Club Member | The vet told me that it will be all the signs of a real pregnancy. Their nipples will be swollen, stomach will be swollen, she will eat more, want more water, and be lazy. I think that was all he said. He said that he is sure it is a false pregnancy because it normally happens after their heat cycle. I know for sure she is not pregnant because I was very protective of her when we were outside. He told me to wait it out and if I get to nervous to bring her in and he will look at her. |

| I've read some even produce milk... it's been a long time ago but my first female took all her squeaky toys and made a nest and tried to nurse them... she had them all lined up at her tummy.

YT 500 Club Member | Yes that was also one of the signs. I was going to get her spayed next week but he told me to wait because until we are for sure her false pregnancy is over because it could make it worse if we spayed while she is in the middle of her "pregnancy". |

| Yes that's true. I don't know exactly why, but the FP will last 2-3 months longer than normal if spayed during it.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | A false pregnancy lasts as long as an actual pregnancy. 63 days. Around that date she may "mother" toys and she may or may not produce milk. This part usually ends in a week or so after the hormones settle down..

| You do need to watch her closely and I'm sure you are. Her body is actually acting exactly like it would if she was really pregnant. If she is producing milk you may need a collar to keep her from licking her belly because that just stimulates more milk production. If her symptoms get worse or do not end within a couple of weeks then consider taking her in to be checked by the vet. |

| also watch her "licking herself" during heat. Mine did and got a nice uti in the process. Now when she occasionally heads toward that area I say "uh uh no lady parts" and she stops.. |

| they will pee a million times a day and just a little bit each time. They will pee anywhere and everywhere. They get lethargic and kind of withdrawn... |
