| Goodness Lou...Gizmo is adorable. I clicked on the site and saw his pictures but is there a place to go to see his story?

| If you enlarge the screen you should be able to see his bio under the photo. He is such a cutie and Linda is fostering him herself. the poor little guy has been through a rough patch. |

| awwww...just seeing this.. Little Gizmo came to me in 2009 ... Someone posted about him here on YT but for the life of me I cannot find the thread. The owner posted him on Craig's List .. said that she was pregnant with a second child and that she knew it would not work out because he was already fearful of her other child a 3 year old. Anyway...........she put out on CL that she was going to euthanize him because she had contacted all of the yorkie rescues and they all had ignored her plea (not true...). So...I contacted her and took him in. The poor thing was a mess. For the first couple of days he hid in a carrier that she had brought with him...and snarled and snapped at me. I just left him alone and put food out for him at meal times. In time he was ok but he still had flinching issues. What she failed to tell me was that he was losing his eyesight. He had PRA .. progressive retinal atrophy. Nothing new in the rescue world...most owner surrenders are never 100% honest. So.....needless to say, Giz has been a difficult to place pup....it's ok though because we don't put a time limit on them. Not many people are looking for a blind pup, but you just never know....we don't have a Furever Ours program/designation because we operate with the belief that all pups are placeable. Of course we are realistic and do know some probably never will be. Gizmo has been relatively healthy....he had bladder stones once after coming to me (he had them before with his owner) ... after his second surgery he never had any more issues. He is on a RX diet. Gizmo just spent five days at GCVS in the ICU with pancreatitis. He was discharged this week and is doing well. Gizmo will be 13 in July. He is a sweetheart of a pup....manages quite well in spite of not being able to see. He has a little spot in my master bath that he claims as his. It is a crate under the sink and that is his little hideout...he comes out when he is hungry or has to go to the bathroom...or wants to be loved on...OR when company comes. He hears my DIL's voice when she visits and he runs out. It is so cute. Because he is a senior, he does sleep a lot.

| Giz is as cute as they come and thank you for giving this little, long-deserving sweetheart a loving and forever home. You can't miss with this guy. That little face says it all. Your life is going to be full of him and you and lots of love. Thank you - sincerely, thank you.

Oh Lynzy, you don't know how badly I would love being a foster mother to this little one! He has a special place in my heart. Linda is doing an excellent job with him but it is running her ragged trying do deal with her own health issues and the recent problems with several dogs! With 4 of my own and still grieving the loss on my little Cassie, the best I can do is beg everyone to contribute to YHR so these special needs puppies can get the vet care they deserve. She never says so but I'm pretty sure that Linda has to pay for a lot of the expenses out of her own pocket and you KNOW how expensive one sick dog can be. Imagine several! I also think she takes fosters that no one else will. She is a saint and deserves all the help she can get. I truly wish I could do more. | |
