YT 2000 Club Member | Choking on chew bones I would like to warn my Yorkie friends about giving your dog bones to chew on. I used to get the CET chews from my vet. Well my JoJo has hacked up twice on those bones. I am afraid he is going to choke. The pieces were not digested so he gets no more bones. Be very careful what kind of stuff your sweet Yorkie chews on. JoJo is mad but at least he is not going to choke! |

| I'm glad your JoJo is okay. My boys are heavy chewers and will swallow anything, so I do not trust them alone with any kind of chew. We use the CET chews, but I hold them while my boys chew and I don't allow them to swallow anything.

| With the CET chews when I buy them which is not often I always get the bigger dog ones so I can take it away when it gets small. I am glad JoJo is ok.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh...I can't believe you mentioned this in conjunction with CETs bc a few years back, I almost lost Marcel to a choking incident with the petite size CETs. It was one of the worst experiences of my life...watching him basically die in front of me. By some crazy miracle, the piece of CET must've somehow come loose and he lived. Make sure you know how to do doggie Heimlich - if you don't, there is a thread in the Emerg/Sick section. I still think CETs are good chews - but only if you give a size that is too big...ie, size up. I would never, ever give the petites again. So scary. I'm so glad your kiddo is okay. There are other types of chews you can give your kiddo that are safe.

| That works with most dogs, but my boys take the mediums and turn them into something resembling a soggy potato chip -- and then they try to swallow it. Max and Teddy are nuts.

YT 1000 Club Member | I let my guys chew on any (approved) bone, but MUST pick them up, before they get "swallowable" ! That' includes Bullies as well, anything under about 2" long, and it's got to go. I must have thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of Bully Sticks at 25 cents an inch.

YT 2000 Club Member | JoJo loves those Cet Chews. I buy the extra large ones and he can chew those down and break pieces off. Good idea to hold it while he chews. I will try that and have to fight it to get it away. Better than choking. I hate to hear a dog choked because owner was not careful of what they were chewing on. |
