| First Groom/Neuter Advice On a recent trip to Petco, I stopped by the groomer and asked her, out of curiousity, at what age should a Yorkie get his first haircut. She recommended the first time should be at 6 months due them still having their baby fur. Is this the norm? Also, I am wanting to get him neutered. Is 6 months the appropriate age? |

| No you can get them groomed after they have had all their shots especially the bordatella. Neutering at 6 months is the norm. Its best to get the retained baby teeth removed at the neuter so you dont have to put them under anesthesia twice

| Thanks! He's getting his last set of puppy shots on March 30th....now I just need to decide where I want to take him for his first groom . I've already researched here on the message boards the different puppy cuts and I will be one nervous mommy .. |

| With groomers these days and all the bad stories I have heard I would make sure you can watch them groom your baby the first couple of times.

| The only place I have taken Joey and been happy with the groom and service was Petsmart. Every where else has messed up his hair, been rude, taken too long, and one lady gave him a bald patch by his eye and said he must have scratched himself. As for neutering, I just got that done with him and he was a yr and 2 months. And like someone else posted, he had his baby teeth removed at the same time.

| My groomer gives a free groom for puppy under 4months, just the basic was and fluff to help puppy get used to grooming. Then suggests grooming every 4 weeks so puppy can get used to grooming. This way they can take it slow and get puppy used to the surroundings and equipment. |
