The constant irritation of diarrhea causes inflammation of the intestines and really throughout the digestive system. You may see some blood occasionally from this. The gel like substance does sound like some of the symptoms of IBS. I would get this pup to someone who knows how to handle this.

Sometimes vets are very good with day to day problems but you really see what their skill level is when you run into real problems.

If this puppy has had problems right along then this is either a parasite problem or something quite a bit more serious. Puppies are able to handle something like this for a period of time but can decompsate quickly.

Did u wean them off of the eukanuba slowly by mixing both the old brand with your new brand? If you didnt then that could cause a stomach upset. You should try using royal canin or blue buffalo.

He has giardia. He's on a different antiobiotic, so hopefully we can once and for all cure this.

That's what I was thinking. Glad it was discovered & now he can be on the road to recovery. He's been sick for too long, did you let the breeder know? It sounds like he had it when he was there...she might have a giardia outbreak & doesn't even know. It's also contagious to people, a zoonotic disease.

Yeah I know, now I feel like I have it!! I sent her an email, I've not heard back. But I'm pretty sure he possibly got it from her since he's been sick ever since I got him.

I'm glad you have a definitive diagnosis and hope your little guy recovers quickly. I would hold the yogurt for now. It can be hard on the system (although not as bad as milk) and the potential benefits of probiotics from eating a bit of yogurt are questionable. Some members here have better luck with a probiotic supplement.

That was my thought, but I'm glad I read to the end to see. Well water and diarrhea can mean this paracite.
If you have informed the breeder, hopefully they can get their water treated, and inform the owners of his littermates.
