| Chloe spay March 20 I made the appt today. I am so nervous. I am a worry wart. lol She will be 6 months on the 25, so I'm hoping I catch it before her first heat cycle. Any suggestions for when bringing her home? How long do they take to recover? She's only 4.9 lbs. I guess I need reassurance that all will be well.

YT 2000 Club Member | I know the feeling....Teeka gets her spay done in less than a week! She will be 8 months and is around 3 1/2 pounds. I waited as long as possible, also not wanting her to go in heat, but waiting for her to put on a little more weight! The big day is March 13......I totally trust my vet, but it is always nerve racking to put our babies through this procedure! Best of luck to you and Chloe!

| just remember they will weigh her before the procedure to assure the right dose of anesthesia is given. to me thats the most dangerous part..so thats where i always get worried. you may want to order her a soft collar...i know theres someone on here that makes them and i kicked myself for not getting one. that way you can rest assure she will not be licking herself afterwards if you cannot watch her every second. try to keep busy that day and i will keep chloe in my thoughts and prayers for a very safe procedure.

| It's normal to worry...you are a mom! Just remember that the vet does this all the time and is great at it. Suggestions: Pre-Spay: Make sure you get the pre-op bloodwork done. It is very important for breeds that have predispositions to liver function problems, especially. Also, go shopping now and get some Pedialyte, chicken broth, medicine dropper/syringe, nutrical, and Mineral Oil. Also, a soft doggie tshirt is all I needed for Mandie to keep her from licking her stitches, but you might want to look into a onsie (may need a premie size for her size). Shopping now is a good idea because not all stores carry premie clothes. The reason for the things I mentioned are because these are what I needed for Mandie. I couldn't get her to eat the first couple of days and drizzling chicken broth on her kibble made her gobble it up! Oh! I would also see if you can get Chloe to eat some green beans and/or carrots. I say that because of why I listed the mineral oil. Mandie had a hard time pooping after surgery (probably due to the meds). Mineral oil mixed with her food and even some rubbed on her bum helped. But, if I'd a thought about it..I would have upped her fiber intake before hand to help. The Pedialyte and dropper or syringe is because on the first day, she wouldn't drink water either. So, I did that by hand. By the second day, she was drinking on her own.

Thanks so much for the other info. I will be sure to get all of this before that day. I do have a onesie that will fit her.

| So, just give her a small amount of mineral oil or mix some in her food?
