I use to think when I came on here, my gosh I have never seen so many sick or little babies that have passed. But, we have to remember when are talking about all over and how much area that covers. We have issues with Kayla with the CT but its hereitary and so far so good with our others. Just really minor things. We try to give them the best of everything. We dearly love them. |
Our Bella is healthy, 9 months old,....only one bout of the "squirts", took her to the vet for meds and all was ok. |
As I have posted, Shelby & Seymour have had leg issues... Seeger on the other hand seems to be a very healthy lil guy. Of course he comes from a completely different bloodline than the other two. |

My Milo is healthy. He is 1 year and 7 months. Clean healthy vet check in January. |
Worse thing that has happened to any of my dogs is Sabre has a yeast infection in his ears, poor thing. But all of them, even Fatty the rescue maltese are very healthy. |
Georgie had AAI (atlantoaxial instability) since the surgery in September 2011 our boy is doing amazing. So no he isn't perfectly healthy but he's perfectly Georgie and we love him to pieces:D PS My niece's Yorkie Oliver (he is 9 1/2) has never had any issues other then diarrhea on occasion. |
Gracie has never had a sick visit to the vet. Since her spay she has only had one check up and she was as healthy as can be. The only issue we have had has been her picky eating habits. Because of the popularity of the Yorkie there has been a lot of over breeding and when that happens to any breed there tends to be a lot of serious health issues that ensue. I was very blessed with Gracie. I had not been looking for a Yorkie when I found her. I just fell in love with her sweet little face and bought her without really looking into the breed. Now I see I really should have done much more investigation first. Thankfully she is practically perfect in every way. Would not advise anyone else to take such a chance though. Her terrier personality really had me wondering what I had there for a while. Now I can't imagine life without her sassy little self around. |
They sure are independent characters. LOL! But that is what we love about them. So happy that Gracie is so well, praying she stays that way. |
I have some very healthy pups and some not so healthy. I won't name my healthy ones for fear they might come up with some obscure thing. My recent event with Teddy Bear who has always been healthy really freaked me out. Not to mention Olivia and Cookie who were also healthy and then one day, bang! You simply never know. We do have a breed that is prone to many health issues and I encourage everyone to purchase insurance if you don't have a means to pay for expensive vetting. You really just never know. It is no different than people. A person can be as healthy as can be and then one day...bang. something shows up. Sometimes on a forum like this it is easy to start thinking all yorkies are ill because many come here looking for advice about medical issues, but that is not the case. One look at the pictures and videos that are shared and the gift exchange..and other stuff will show lots of healthy yorkies! |

LOL!! The cheeky little Jem! Quite forward for a new pup! LJ I know you have had your share of good and bad health with your pups, and you too! Life is a lottery and one never can tell what tomorrow will bring. I feel with insurance it is a comfort that money will never be an issue if our babies should have problems. It isn't always easy to come up with $3,000 plus at the drop of a hat. I worked out that for a lifetime of insurance payments one only needs one major event and it is paid for. Also med prices with chronic diseases add up over the years. I got the insurance for possible LP surgery as that is so common with Yorkies, but the poor guy got juvenile ( hereditary?) cataracts instead - certainly something I did not plan for. Hope your health fortunes are better in the future. You sure have been through the mill lately. |

My 7 year old boy was from a by. No health issues at all, just never stopped growing. Now 13lbs., he's my lovey cuddle bug teapot. My new pup girl from a broker/puppy mill that I didn't know at the time has had skin infections, mites, and now possible lp on back leg. And she's 5.6 lbs. 1st birthday tomorrow. Didn't think she would make it this far. I pray nothing else happens to her!!!! And btw, she runs from and hates to snuggle with me. She loves her daddy more :(( |
Health Your "teapot" baby sounds a joy and a healthy one at that! Bigger is better it seems. :-)). So sorry your smaller girl has so many issues, but I am sure they can be fixed. LP is not always bad and if it is mild your little one may be able to live happily with it. She probably has memories in the first weeks of her puppy mill life that make her fearful and apparently non loving towards you. But she is young and with time, patience and love she will come around and begin to trust you and be more cuddly. It is good news that she is a buddy of her daddy. Happy birthday little baby, hope you get lots of treats. Please keep us posted as to how she is doing as she gets older and hopefully more healthy. |
