Will not give me AKC papers

We perched a expensive Yorkie with the codation that we would not get the AKC papers untill we had her spaded. We had her spaded and sent the brearder the proff of spad and she replad she would send them as soon as she had time! That was two monts ago. She will not communicate with us after Manley request. What should I do?

I would call her again and give her one week to send the papers. If you don't receive them within that time period, call AKC.

Welcome to YorkieTalk - hopefully others will give you more ideas about dealing with the breeder.

dawn27 02-26-2013 09:49 AM

Yes, I agree. But two months is a long time. She should already have them. Not sure what the hold up would be. I would also try to communicate thru email so that you have a paper trail. That may help you move things along and get the papers sooner.

Maximo 02-26-2013 10:06 AM

I'm sorry your breeder is not cooperating. Did you sign a contract?

Welcome to Yorkie Talk.

Nancy1999 02-26-2013 10:10 AM

Lots of people don't care if they get papers if they aren't planning to breed or show, I'm glad that you are insisting on papers. She sold you a dog that was supposedly AKC eligible, and that's what you should get. Insisting on papers helps keeps breeders honest and makes it harder for them to cheat.

And be sure to mention you will be contacting AKC if you dont receive your papers within that time frame. Who is the breeder? Did you sign a contract? Did the breeder show you a copy of the litter registration papers when you bought your puppy to prove to you she did indeed have your babys papers!

gloriajean 02-26-2013 10:18 AM

Yeah right!!!

as an ex-breeder I had people tell me that they had bought a yorkie that was suppose to be registered yet 2 years later they have yet to recieve the papers. If you didn't see the papers when you bought your yorkie your breeder probaly didn't have papers in the first place. I wish you the best of luck in getting your AKC paper work, you may have to go to small claims court to get some of your $ back I wish you all the best

JANICE C 02-26-2013 10:43 AM

I'm not a breeder but I don't understand why she didn't give you the AKC papers you have to mail in when you purchased her. I believe there is an area on the paper work that the breeder darkens in and states limited registration. Doesn't limited registration mean you have to have the puppy fixed but still able to participate in AKC obedience shows just not breed classes. I thought if you didn't get the paper work with the puppy at time of purchase then the puppy would still belong to the breeder.

Joey's breeder held up the paper work as well, but as soon as I sent the proof of neutering she sent me the papers. I believe the bill of sale and contract show that the puppy belongs to you, the registration papers are different. It just shows the dog is registered with the AKC. It’s sad, but too many good breeders have worked for years on a line, and a person “promises” them that they will neuter, but then breed the dogs. Unfortunately, the alternative registries will allow these dogs to be registered, that’s one of the reasons, I suggest people don’t buy from breeders who register with the alternative registries, you could very easily buy a dog with stolen breeding rights, making you an accomplice to an unethical act!

chachi 02-26-2013 11:35 AM

If the breeder doesnt give you the papers I would take her to small claims court and get some of your purchase price back. You have done everything you were supposed to do.

Yorkiedaze 02-26-2013 11:44 AM

If you don't have everything in writing, then it's all just your word, which wouldn't hold up in a court of law. I'm sorry you are going thru this but it doesn't sound like that breeder was legit! Maybe a reminder to her that you are on a dog board (not telling her which one) that has thousands of viewers from all over the world, and you will put her name out for the world to see.
Good luck to you.

I was thinking the same thing.

Thanks Nancy1999 you are right. It is sad some people don't keep their word and don't get their pet spade or neuter if that's what they agreed to do. I can see why they might hold on to the paper work, the dishonest people make it hard on the honest people. Alot of good breeder have worked many years on their lines and after reading some of the other posts I went on the AKC website and saw the same question asked by someone and this is how AKC answered the question....
I never received a dog registration application from my breeder. How can I get an application for my dog?
Answer: Buyers should not accept a promise that this identification or the registration application will be sent later. It is the buyer’s responsibility to obtain complete identification of the dog as described below. If sufficient information to identify the dog within AKC records is not forthcoming, the buyer should seriously consider not purchasing the dog.
This identifying information may be stated on a properly completed AKC registration application, on a bill of sale, or on a written statement, signed by the seller, that gives the dog's full breeding information as follows:
Breed, sex and color
Date of birth of the dog
Registered names and numbers of the dog's sire and dam
Name and address of the breeder
Date of purchase by the buyer
Name and address of the buyer
If you have this information, you should write a letter to AKC and give the details of the situation and copies of any documents you have. Please provide the full names, addresses, and phone numbers of everyone involved, including you. You will need to fax or mail that letter and copies of all related documents to:
American Kennel Club
Customer Registration Support Dept.
PO Box 900066
Raleigh, NC 27675-9066
Fax - 919-816-4250
We will review the situation, contact the breeder, and get back to you.
Please sign your letter of complaint.
Registration with the AKC is strictly voluntary. The AKC cannot force breeders to register their litters with us, and, as there are many domestic dog registries, the term “papers” or “papered” does not necessarily mean “eligible for AKC registration.”
If you have made every available effort to obtain the AKC registration application from the seller (litter owner/ breeder, pet store or third party) and it is still not forthcoming, the AKC can only recommend that you seek legal counsel to determine if you can obtain relief through civil channels. You may also wish to bring this matter to the attention of your local Better Business Bureau or Consumer Protection Service.
The AKC is not directly involved in the commerce of dogs, and the AKC does not license, endorse, register, or recommend any breeders or kennels. Membership in the AKC is comprised of independent dog clubs located throughout the United States. No individual persons are members of the AKC

Her name is Kory Feick, Court Ash. She is from Colorado Springs. The Yorkie is a beautiful dog, Tawny.

dawn27 02-26-2013 04:54 PM

I believe that you need to communicate to her that your side of the agreement has been met and that the AKC papers need to be sent to you asap or a complaint will be filed. I wouldn't mess around any further. She should of had the paperwork there when you picked up your pup.

I've got mine for my current litter ready to go and if I didn't I couldn't imaging asking anyone to pay for a full AKC reg pup.

Courtashyorkies

courtashyorkies.com

Advertises teacups, doll-faced, apple-heads, and talks a lot about alleged scams by others on the net.

P.S.

Look at the seal on the lower right corner of her website and do a search on it.

PeebersMama 06-30-2013 09:07 PM

Ugh-

I went to this woman's house and it was FILTH! Her dogs were in her living room, hallways, kitchen all in stacked cages. And then there were more in the barn out behind her home. One of her male stud dogs that is the only one that has good bloodlines from Misty Blue only has 3 legs. She was also going to start breeding white Golden Retrievers or Labs or something...Her hired help Mark was drunk and her other male Regan was so matted that the poor boy couldn't move:( She is rude and has no education which is clear in her spelling and grammar. And she feels it necessary to slander other breeders in her area on her webpage that have spoken out against her unethical breeding. I wanted to take all those poor babies out of there:( And she says she lives in Colorado Springs but I PERSONALLY went to her house and its in Calhan CO.

McheleM 06-30-2013 09:42 PM

"I breed females 4 to 8 lbs"

Sad! But at least she's honest.

So another backyard breeder or puppy mill... So sad. Did you call Animal Control on her?

Renee Pingel 07-01-2013 11:23 AM

All I can say is OMG - rediculous sizes and prices!! That woman should be ashamed of herself. I pray someone turns her in and that people who can take better care of all those babies get them. I hate people like that.

rgadams 07-01-2013 11:31 AM

I have had Tawny for 7 months now and she has turned in to a beautiful dog. I can see way we had a hard time at first, if she had been in a cage for a year of her life! She was afraid of everything. Now with a lot of loving care she has become excellent Yorkie.

I hope this woman is turned in and shut down!

re: ugh

Well, what's worse is the two women that she is slandering on the homepage of her website are two women that are also breeders. however, they both refused to send their puppies to her after hearing and seeing the conditions in which she keeps them. As far as I know they both refunded her money and refused to do any business with her so she slanders their name. I had asked Kory what was the story with it all, and she said they were scammers for not sending her puppies. I called one of them after leaving there and seeing with my own eyes the filth and asked her side. She said she refused to allow one of her dogs to ever live like that and just refused her a puppy. She said she believes no yorkie ever deserves to be locked up and that Kory had tried calling her a scammer. So I went to her to see her dogs and conditions and what a world of difference! She only had 10 show yorkies compared to Korys 100-150 caged yorkies and they all ran free on the property and followed her everywhere! They ran inside, outside, played with my kids and one even jumped in our car to go for a ride- so I could tell they were used to such things. All had beautiful long groomed coats and the puppies had a whole playground setup. NO KENNELS! I did file a complaint on the Kory woman but I don't know what became of it.

RockyMtnYorkies 07-01-2013 11:49 AM

Did you ever get your papers on her? How old is she?

PeebersMama 07-01-2013 12:12 PM

@rockymtn- can you pm me the contact info for the other Denver breeder? It's hard knowing which ones to trust and I'd like to ask her if she has any available- I refused to buy one from Kory so I'm still looking....it's nice to hear another yorkie lover talk highly of a local breeder. It helps to weed out the bad one:)

rgadams 07-01-2013 12:22 PM

No papers, she will not return my calls, I have sent her several emails and tried to phone her with no response!

Tawny is now 16 months. She is 4 inches square, baby face, straight silky lo g hair with natural part to tip of tail. The only flaw I can see she has is bottom crooked teeth. She does many tricks on demand. All most house trained, what a chore.

As you can see we are very happy with Tawny and care less about the papers. I think I will keep bothering her

Richard

PeebersMama 07-01-2013 12:37 PM

She's probably using her papers on another female to register puppies. She is scandalous. She had told me that the reason that her "top male stud with the impeccable lines" only had 3 legs because his mother had eaten his leg off when he was a puppy...has anyone ever even heard of such a thing?
