YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() Hi Tom! If you visited my home you would have to jump a few fences. My two male Yorkies get into stuff when I am away. I don't trust them if they don't chew it, they pee on it. So I confine them in the kitchen with a doggy door to go outside. Nothing in there to chew up, they have toys and I buy them the CET chews from my vet. JoJo still chews these but it has really helped him stay away from the wood on the chairs. We do this all the the love of these dogs. Your dog will get better, just take away all chewable stuff and give her some freedon, warm bed and toys and attention. Don't give up, these Yorkies have incredible love to give us if we are patient and train them. |

| ![]() I think that he needs to learn that he is ok when you are gone and that you will come back. You said that you take Mocha with you everywhere. Try NOT doing that. Try letting Mocha have short spans of alone time then you can give him crazy amounts of praise when you come back and he hasn't been naughty. When you are gone at work he needs attention- doggy sitter, puppy day are, etc. I wish you luck, please don't give up on him! |

| ![]() When you ask for advice you have to be able to take the good with the bad. And understand that we as animal lovers hate to see someone say they are giving up on these little guys. Marlize advice is great! Just don't give up!

![]() ![]() I agree with everyone else. Don't give up on your dog. The situation is really frustrating, but with proper training ... he can work through this. These dogs have so much love to give and can truly make your life so happy. HOWEVER, if in the end .... you do decide that it is all to much, and you're going to find your dog a new home, please make sure to disclose ALL information to his new adoptive parents. Make sure they know what they are getting themselves into with his destructive behavior. I'm not saying this is what will happen to your dog, but it is very sad when a dog is passed around from home to home because no one has the time to work with him on behaviors that could be corrected and they were not aware of the issues when they adopted. Good Luck with your decision. | |

| ![]() yes indeed much great tips are given. am really appreciating that. we don believe in crating our dogs when we are not around as we want them to have free roam in the house. than again. mocca do not receive crates very well.. he starts winding and barking non stop after 2 hours so that is out of the questions. if i crate mocca, he will feel bad seeing the westie roam freely, we dont wan that either. we did though of day care, but wht about the westie? he will have no company alone at home and it is not cheap sending both of them to day care especially the westie has been really good, not giving us any problems at all. we are perfectly fine with mocca not been housebreak yet but the chewing is another issue totally.... hope that the vet and the trainer can come out with something. thanks again guys for all the great prayers and encouragements. |

| ![]() Have you tried obedience classes? I had a dog who would tear up everything - even pull the wall to wall carpet up so she could tear up the carpet pad ![]() We did obedience school and things really changed as the classes progressed. Just a thought that this might help you folks. Good luck to you! Prayers and blessings!

| ![]() How old is he and what is his day like - how much time is spent on exercise, interactive play, walking, interacting with you as a companion and training? Before we know that, it will be hard to help much. Could you share what his day is like as to amount of time. Dogs usually respond very well to crates if they are slowly desensitized to them and made to feel it is their own little cozy den. Not crating him might force you to give him up, so you might reconsider that. There is nothing cruel about crating a dog if they don't stay in them for long, long hours. In the wild, dogs often crawl into small spaces to sleep and stay safe - find their own little den. So they are very comfortable in them once they become accustomed to them.

Im glad to hear that you are willing to work with him and try to find a solution. Try something new, anything ne, Something has to work for you and for him. He deserves the best that you have to offer and you should be willing to offer him a reasonable amount of time to find what works and to adjust to the change. I wish you much Luck !
