| ![]() Could someone explain to be how IBC registration works? I've been on Google now for thirty minutes and I still can't figure it out myself. Does IBC have standards for chocolate and gold? ![]() |

| ![]() That is something that certainly interests me. The Biewer standard seems to allow for more colors, while the yorkie standard vehemently penalizes them. Not taking a side either way, I just think it is interesting to see the future. |

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | ![]() I agree it is interesting, I would love to see the day where all yorkies are accepted....not just based on colour, JMO.

| ![]() They are accepted with akc and such as yorkies you just can't show them. Kyra is black and gold but can't be shown because her coat didn't break correctly ![]()

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | ![]() This is where the confusion comes in....the Biewers are NOT registerable with the AKC, the parti yorkies ARE. They are all yorkies IMO but that is where all the confusion comes in...bc Mr. Biewer could not get them registered with the breed club (the equivalent to the AKC in Germany) when they were developed, They were then registered with another breed club....I don't remember if it was a club he founded himself or a rare breed club...sorry forgot all the specifics. Because of this the AKC will not register the Biewer as a separate breed. From what information I could gather the Biewer is not a separate breed, they are yorkies with a different standard not the standard of the AKC...color fault. The parti's are the same yorkies that we all love, but are accepted by the AKC and the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) here in Canada. Hope I explained that properly....Biewer breeders please correct me if I got that wrong. Charlene is correct, the parti's can't be shown, if they aren't the blue and tan colouring set out by the AKC.

| ![]() I would ultimately one day like to see the Yorkie come in the different colors and be accepted, but I think it's a long way off. The only reason I would support such a decision is because we openly admit that the Yorkshire terrier had a less than glamorous beginning, with lots of different ''mutts'' going into the mix. We can document that there were different colored Yorkies. I suppose it's a moot issue though, since it's also documented that Maltese used to come in different colors, and now they're only accepted in white. At any rate, Poodles can now be shown in parti-colors with the UKC. Maybe it could turn into a situation where the AKC accepts Biewers as Yorkies, much like they do Harlequin poodles and German Spitz as American Eskimos? One thing that I absolutely hate is how merle is suddenly popping up into AKC stock of all sorts of breeds. INCLUDING poodles. Really?! Right now they're all stuck in the CKC, but it'll only be a few years before some unscrupulous breeder suddenly finds them in AKC stock. Thankfully no one's ever thought to try to have merle Yorkies, that's where I would certainly have to draw the line! |
