| Will he stay this sweet and laid back? I am totally amazed that for a puppy and one not even a week away from his litter that Bentley is so calm and laid back. The only thing I have found that even remotely phases him is the rinse cycle on the washing machine. Car rides, vet, trips to the store sweet calm and laid back. Stranger who acknowledge him he either ignores(because he's too comfy) or gratefully accepts the attention. In the back of my mind I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Advance in age a little or just become even more comfortable with his new home. (to be honest though he acts like he has been with us all his life) And all of a sudden a shift in personality to the large personality I have read so much about. So here is my question. Am I safe in assuming that barring stupid human mistakes in his upbringing that his sweet laid back demeanor will follow him into adulthood? He's so young just 11 weeks, and I just don't know what if any personality shift I can expect. I'm enrolling "us" in obedience training starting next month. I want to do completely right by this special little man. I'm sure I need much more training than he does lol

| My first puppy Chibi was a very sweet and laid back puppy, he harldy got into anything, learned potty training right away and was pretty much a model puppy. He is now almost 6 years old and still the sweet dog he was so long ago, he has picked up some bad habits along the way but he iis just calmer and more well behaved than most. Just got lucky I guess- warning though lightning doesnt strike twice, if you ever get another yorkie it will probably be a trouble maker like my little Molli

| Anna, I must say Bentley is a little doll. I don't know his age but he looks young. Likely he won't stay this way as most Yorkshire Terriers are extremely high-energy, high-maintenance, opinionated and affected by everything in the world and they often make everything extremely personal and internalize a lot. Being terriers, they don't miss much and are usually "wired", not to say that they don't have their down times. On rainy, cold, overcast days, Tibbe often sleeps in, schleps around and doesn't really rouse a lot until later in the afternoon or evening but he's a pistol on sunny days! I would hope for both your sakes that he stays laid back and cool about things but I wouldn't count on it. I've yet to have a laid-back Yorkie but I love their spirited and excitable, always involved little ways, myself, even if it can be a bit wearing. Still, anything is possible. .

Donating YT 30K Club Member | It's hard to say since he is so young but all of mine have been pretty laid back from day one. Not as laid back as Bentley at the vet. lol Mine all have little personality quirks but none of them are real active.

| Buster has been a Zen puppy since we got him. He has his terrier moments but he is still laid back in most situations. He does hate the sound of the big truck Jake brakes. I made sure to acclimate him to loud sounds like the vacuum, leaf blower, jackhammers etc. when he was a puppy. We are still working on doorbells at home and on the TV. He loves visitors and takes his job of Security Alert very seriously!

| My Riley has been a very sweet and laid back puppy since the day I brought him home at 10 1/2 weeks old. He harldy ever gets into anything... He learned potty training right away and has been a model puppy. He will be 3 years old in May. My friends literally get upset with me if I don't bring him over when I go visit. LOL!! |

| Georgie for the most part is laid back. He doesn't bark a lot and likes to relax. He gets a little anxious when we leave or at the vets office but much more laid back then other Yorkies I have seen.

| Thanks for all the responses. Don't get me wrong, when he is rested up and playing he's a fire cracker. Just ask my cat and my parent's cat. lol I am just so amazed at how sweet he is. I'm sure I sound like every new Yorkie mommy lol. Long story short I have had a rough going emotionally in my life for the last several years seems like no matter what choices I made they were never the right ones. On the drive to get him from the breeder I had worries I was making yet another mistake. I took one look at him and got him in my arms and thought damn got something right. I think it would be great to train him for a therapy dog. Will be looking into it, but even if we don't do it, he's my own personal therapy dog. Sorry to ramble. Think I'm still on my first Yorkie high. lol

| I can honestly tell you I have been on a Yorkie high since the day we brought Georgie home. Even when he has had accidents in the house or wakes me up in the middle of the night to go potty I have always adored him. He is my little furball and the love we have for each other is unconditional. I am sure you will always feel the same way. Sometimes we need them more then they need us and its nice

YT 1000 Club Member | HA, you're going to get as many opinions as there are Users on this Forum. Yorkies lead the Breeds on personality variations ! Aggressive/passive, energetic/lazy, stay the same and change drastically when they mature. They do it ALL. Just one way to see how yours goes....wait.
