Thank you Kristin, I don't know what I would've done without the help from everyone who offered such wonderful advice and to those who expressed their concerns for Yazmin.

Since last week I've made quite a few changes.

1. I put her covered cage in my kitchen with the door left opened. She still has her bed in the nook also.

I found out about the Through A Dog's Ear CD's by reading the thread Maximo provided that was start by megansmomma. The music is very comforting, I watched Yazmin yawn and then take a nap while listening to the first CD.
5. I purchased a Thundershirt for Yazi from Kristin, (Maximo) that was shipped and delivered very quickly I must say! Very cute too.
I put the shirt on her last Saturday before leaving for work and when I arrived home she was not crying, pouncing on the back door, or panting. That was a huge relief to see!
6. I've been putting the CD's on 1/2 before I leave and have not been going through the normal long "Good Bye" ritual that I started 2 years ago. Just a quick "Be a good girl".
7. Last but not least, I got a Interactive Treat Puzzle to greet her with when I come home.

Yazmin is still excited to see me and wants to be held when I get home, she'll jump around like a jumping bean til I pick her up and let her get in a few puppy kisses but I am working on making this greeting ritual a lot shorter by taking her outside to play our daily fetch sooner and then letting her have some treats from her new puzzle.

All these changes have really calmed Yazi down and has made my baby a lot happier. Thank you to everyone for all your advice and suggestions, it's made our lives so much easier.

Wow, what a great mom you are, this is a good example how multiple things work well together. Joey has a problem when I get home, I too try to keep the greeting short and sweet. I sit on the steps and he's allowed to kiss me, and then I get up as soon as possible. I'm still working on ignoring him entirely, lol, like that's ever going to happen.

Nancy, I just wondered why you have to keep your greeting on arriving home short? Does your little one have that excitement/submission urination problem?

He was having anxiety when I left, and also he had problem breathing when I got home, no urination problem, I've heard that that's more common in girls, not sure if that's true. He still has a little bit of a breathing problem. The quicker I make the greeting, the faster he settles down.

Oh, I see and am sorry to hear that. Just wondered since dogs so love to greet when their person comes home and so I worried when I heard you were limiting his - thought it must be something medical related. But I sure didn't know your baby had a breathing problem. Is that new or just something I have somehow missed, Nancy? I hate to hear that. Is that your Joey and do you mind my asking what the vet thinks is causing it? I'm always wanting to learn more and what to be on the lookout for with Tibbe. Does he breathe really hard or can't seem to catch his breath or struggle to get breath?

No worries, actually I'm concerned about little Joey's breathing myself. I didn't realize this in her first post.
Nancy, I really pray that it's not a medical issue for the little guy. Yazmin's breathing and panting heavily is only due to her over excitement lately.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound serious. He doesn't have breathing problems at any other time; he has reversed sneezing (?) or gulping for breath when I get home from the store. It really goes away fast. I think my husband actually caused it by making too big of a production when he came home from work, he would talk excitedly to him and get him even more worked up, and of course I did this too, but at least it wasn't daily! I think it's pretty common with dogs here, I've read that many other dogs do this, and trainers just say to ignore them the first few minutes after you get home, but I found this impossible to do, so it's just a short greeting at first. I asked the vet about it, and he wasn’t concerned. I’m kind of surprised, you hadn’t heard of this before. I think it's more common with dogs who are rarely left alone.

Whew! Good to hear it's just that. It does seem to be common on Yorkies when they get so excited. I'd heard a lot about that before, just didn't know that's what your little guy had when you said "breathing problems". I had missed reading about that with your little guy before and didn't know if it was that or from CHF or something else causing breathing problems.

I've got to admit the first few times it scared me to death, but I learned if I tried to comfort him it got worse. So I just start putting the groceries away and he's fine. If I do what the books say and ignore him completly, he will jump up in the air and run in circles until I sit on the steps. He has me so well trained. My kisses must be so good!
