| Newbie - My Dream Came True I've just come across this message board yesterday and after registering, I couldn't wait for my welcome email so I could activate it. I look forward to chatting with other Yorkie owners. After waiting and hoping for two years, I'm finally the owner of new Yorkie puppy. His name is Oakley and he's 9 1/2 weeks old and we've had him for almost 2 weeks now. Oakley has adjusted well, however, I'm trying to adjust to his teething. I have had other dogs and do not remember the biting being like this. Oakley loves my fingers and toes! When I get home from work I kick off the heels on and put on my footie socks. I tell him no and after about 15 minutes he'll leave them alone until I'm sitting on the couch and he goes for the fingers. I give him a chew toy or bone and he's satisfied until he sees the fingers again. I know the biting is only temporary and he's learning quickly as I put him down and say "no" and wait a few minutes then pick him up again. I have noticed at times when I tell him no, he'll give a little growl. Is this normal? We're doing great with the potty training. We have a puppy pad for Oakley in our laundry room (where he sleeps at night) and we constantly take him outside for potty breaks. He's even walked to the back door to let me know he wanted to go out. Oakley is such a wonderful puppy and I look forward to some long and happy years with him. Here's a couple of pictures: |

| What a cutie pie. Welcome to YT. Lots of really good info to be found here. I wish I had known about this site when I get my Huey. He might have ended up better trained!

| Oakley is adorable! Congratulations and welcome to YT. Sounds like you are off to a great start with him. A little playful growling is fine. Max made a lot of funny little sounds as a pup. I think it is just their way of finding their voice. Enjoy your baby!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and congratulations. Oakley is adorable. Just keep telling him no bite and no growl and ignore him for a few minutes. They do grow out of it.

Oakley is a doll and I do see a bit of mischief in him! They are so much fun, I think the teething is normal...just remember to stop him from using you as a teething ring! Glad your here!

| OMG, he's too cute! Love the name Oakley. It fits him well! Is he eating hard foods yet? If so, you might try baby carrots cut into quarter sticks. When mine goes into a teething frenzy, I give him a frozen carrot stick to gnaw on. He adores them and I'm guessing the cold feels good on his gums.
