| i'm a just do it person to, don't know if its good or bad. I get frustrated to but I just don't get held hostage to food! Lol! I have never been able to get my Yorkie puppies to eat like everyone else claims to. I give them their food in a bowl when puppies 3-4 times a day, I might mix something in it or just warm water. I give them nutrical in the morning, after/during a good rough housing play, and another time or two throughout the day. I don't see why waiting for something to happen needs to be...I just give it to them. Eventually as they get older I end up giving them a little food in morning and then when I come home from work, I always leave them plenty of Gerber water and give them some greenbeans and babycarrots for treats. Stop spoiling!

| Update. Well, the cottage cheese seems to be the key. Last night I mixed 2 tablespoons of the original kibble, a teaspoon or so of the new kibble with just a smidge of warm water, and then smushed in about a half teaspoon or so of cottage cheese. I let this concoction sit about 20 minutes while we had a vigorous game of chase the tennis ball. I put him in his ex pen and put the food down. He left maybe 6 pieces of kibble and 3 curds of the CC. This morning I used a tablespoon of the mixed kibble and a tablespoon of the chicken and rice canned puppy food. He sniffed the bowl and looked at me like "Well, where's the rest of it?" So, a half teaspoon of CC. He ate about half. We had a short play time, and I offered it to him again on my finger. Brat ate almost all of it. More play, pooped behind Daddy's chair, and now he's sprawled out in his bed for a morning nap, lol. I'm going to pick up some chicken broth when I go to the store today; hubby has requested white chili for the game tonight. I'm going to try adding some to Sam's evening kibble. I'm a wee bit anxious about giving him too much of the CC.

Yeah, shaving the belly is definitely on my list, as soon as I can get him where he'll be still and I don't have to worry about nicking his belly or his shaft. I groomed my Shi Tzu for years, so I know my way around clippers. He's just a squirmy little worm!

Yorkie Yakker | If you have any chance to take a 'puppy manners' class do it! Very helpful for owners to learn how to help puppies behave. I am a first time doggie mom, with a yorkie puppy, and the class really helps me know how to help Maya learn and behave. As for the grooming, maybe try touching him lovingly in different places: legs, or toes etc. each time you pick him up and hug him. It will help him get used to being touched. I take May out to pee in the snow and when we come in I hold each little paw in my fist to warm it up - I think she likes it now. |

| I am just wondering I am wondering, he is 13 weeks now and you have had him 2 weeks give or take which mean you got him at lets say 11 weeks and he was sent home with you with kibble to eat, is it possible the cottage cheese is the closest thing (taste/consistency) to his mammas milk is why he likes it so? the breeder would have had to start giving him the kibble lets say at least a week before you took him (im guessing), so he didnt get mamma milk very long. I have no experience in this area charlie was 6 months when I got him but it was just a thought.

| He's on day 2 of chicken/rice/veggies and his eyes already look a ton better. There's still some tearing, so I'm thinking the multiple food changes in a short time had a lot to do with it. I'm going to keep him on this until I take him back to the vet next Friday and discuss it with him.

| Bella was not into the whole combing thing at first....so what I did was just turn it around and just ran the flat part on her body down her legs etc. Little by little I would be able to actully flip it and get a "real" comb on her legs and worked up.....she got used to me doing this and now........she is great. Good Luck! Deep Breath! One swipe at a time!
