| Losing teeth After years of being told my 6 yr old yorkie did not need a professional teeth cleaning, Hercules finally got one yesterday. To my shock, he needed 18 teeth pulled. I feel horrible because I should have brushed his teeth daily and I didn't. Now he only has 4 teeth left on top and 11 on the bottom. Unfortunately, he only has 2 upper canines left...all the other front teeth on upper and lower are gone. (Some of the little upper adult teeth never developed and were always missing.) The question that I have is will he ever be able to pick things up in his mouth again without those lower front teeth? He has tried to pick up a bone and soft toy, but was unable to. I don't know if that is because he is so sore, or because the teeth are gone and that helped grab on to things. He is on pain meds and an antibiotic. I have been assured he will have an even better quality of life and be able to eat, but I hope he will be able to play as well. Any input? Thank you! |

| I think Hercules will be fine. My Tatiana is toothless. Last year, we had to extract all her remaining teeth (her previous owner already extracted some of her teeth). Tatiana made a full recovery. She eats fine (I home-cook for her). She plays with her toys just fine, too. I get her stuffing-free, squeak toys. She can pick-up those toys no problem. |

| Joey just had 7 teeth pulled. My vet just recommended Perio Support. It's on order now. Maybe that will help with the rest of his teeth
