Here is what we are using for potty bell. On the side is a little hanging a string. We took the bell from her collar. She prefers the little bell to the one hanging on doorknob.

My boys seem to have accidents when I leave to go somewhere. They have a dog door to the yard yet will pee on their dog crate or on the tile. I can't seem to break this habit. I wash it down with Natures Miracle No Marking and yet they mark! Any other better stuff to use please help. I really think they get mad and just pee. Good thing my kitchen is tile so it is easy wipe up.

At 8 months we are still having accidents. (Sigh). It doesn't bother me because it's an ounce, however hubby is not so happy. Never had a little dog before so this is new to us, we train the same. The problem is we never hear him sneak off and it's always on the white carpeted stairs!

I may have to try that down the road. How did you teach her to use it? Did you just tap the bell every time you took her outside and then she did it on her own one day?

By the way, this is a really interesting thread... I just wish I knew how old everyone's dogs were to give me a better idea of how long this process takes.

Well...my Addyson is going to be 4 yrs in March and she has no accidents if I change the pee pad after two pees on the pad. It doesn't matter were they are located on the pad....it is like she can count! Ha! Also, I can not put a throw rug down anywhere...if I do she will pee on it. The pad I can deal with, but it is very frustrating about the rugs because I love rugs. It doesn't matter what texture or material they are made of...I have tried them all.

Jamie is 3 and 1/2. She hasn't had an accident for at least 2 years at home. We do travel quite a bit and she comes with us. Last year there were no accidents in hotel rooms or other people's houses either. I never thought she would be so well trained since in the beginning she was really tough to train. She goes for a long walk (and I do mean long-my dh and her are gone for up to 2 hours playing in the park and then walking around it with her friends) She does her poops and wee wees during the walk. After that she wee wees on the pad when she has to go and doesn't poop again.

Well today I caved in and moved the pee pad to the spot he keeps peeing on as I just steam cleaned it AGAIN yesterday. Well, he has been using the pad all day again cause it's cold out. Biggest problem is, he uses the pad then barks to go out so he can find sticks to eat....

Always a challenge....COME ON WARM WEATHER AND LONG WALKS AGAIN.

P-Nut's 17 mos, and I'm grateful to report there have been no accidents in ages. He taps at the sliding glass door when he needs to go out and will not go on pads anymore at all. If we're not home, he'll hold it until we get home. GOOD BOY!!

Oh the Joys of Puppyhood !!

Some are just easier than others. I do know that consistency and having a set feeding schedule help tremendously when it come to getting your pup potty trained. I dont know how many of you I have offered my training tips to in the past but if you are in need of some proven tips you can find them on my web site under training tips, the link is below.

Princess Sophie only has accidents when the DH is watching her. LOL I think he needs training too.
