| Yorkie size Hi! My husband gave me a male yorkie for Christmas! We have named him Charlie and we love him so much. He is now 14 weeks old and weighs 5-1/2 pounds (at 9 weeks he weighed 3-1/2 lbs). His legs are really short and he has a fairly short body as well. Is this a good weight for this age? I'm wondering how big he will be and when do they stop growing? |

| The growth chart doesn't always work. A lot depends on your puppy's ancestors. If there is a large amount of different sizes in it's background then it's hard to say what his mature size will be. At 14 weeks of age he still has a lot of growing to do. There seems to be a wide variation of Yorkie sizes here on YT. They go from 2lbs to 20lbs! |

| Well, Charlie's parents are 4 and 6 lbs. I'm hoping he will be small, but I love him regardless! He just loves to eat. He's really short legged and not very big. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Just as a comparison....Teeka is 6 1/2 months or 30 weeks and she weights 3.6 lbs. At 14 weeks, she weighted 2.2 lbs. Her parents were 3 lbs & 5 lbs. Her growth over the last 2 months has slowed way down. Since she turned 6 months she has gained nothing! Every dog is different in their growth! I would love to see pictures!

About 90% is in the background! Pups have growth spurts, pups start out gaining and then stop.....weight charts are just a guesstimation, a ball park figure, give or take a couple of pounds! Genetics and what is behind that baby......there lies the answer! | |
