Congrats! What an adorable pup! A baby gate for the bathroom might work while you're gone until you find an ex-pen. That way he won't feel as closed in. Just remember to pick up anything he might get into in the bathroom.

I put him in the bathroom but I didn't think about the baby gate. That is a great idea...don't want him closed up in a room...thx!! I'll definitely get that book as well

You can buy a liquid house breaking aid to put on your pads. Humans cannot smell it but the dog can. It has a hormone in it that attracts the puppy or dog to where it is applied. You have to keep him close to his potty because he is too young to be able to hold back his urine yet.
Amazon.com: Gold Medal Housebreaking Aid for... This will help but he will still need to be near the potty.
