I am kidding ma'am I don't want a yard full that would be to much for me. I don't even let my dogs out without me so me watching a yard full would be crazy. I do care for my dogs they are everything to me people are just pissing me off. I do everything for them like they are my own kid. If I leave for a few days I have a empty spot that misses them they are all I think about. My husband hates that I give them more attention than him so I'm pretty sure I care about them. My little girl is in my lap while I rub her belly right now thats love right there. You people act like everyone is so stupid like y'all know more but I've been we'll educated on this my mom was a breeder of some of the. Top of the line yorkies I just wanted something diffrent so I got my morkie and guess what I love her more than any of the yorkies I've ever had their is something about her so. |

Taylor can I just say I am highly impressed at the wealth of knowledge you possess, I know people often don't like to hear the truth but you did a great job of explaining....I for one hope you never give up advocating and educating on behalf of the breed that you so obviously care so much about...I admire your devotion and your tenacity in standing up for what you believe, this thread is loaded with very good information. Thank You! |

That said, I would agree with you that you may have gotten a little rough on this thread...and that this probably caused much of your message to be lost (geez, this happens to *all* of us, ya know?). When you said above "it burns me the wrong way"...I couldn't help but wonder/realize that's probably how Courtneypage felt too by the interaction. She may have responded better to the info had it been delivered/tweaked a bit differently. Who knows? Quote:

It's hard to find helpful advice when you have a pregnant dog it's a really scary time and made worse when you have people screaming "back yard breeders" My little girl has just had her first and may I say last litter, reason I wanted her to have a litter was to have a baby with her and my first boys DNA as you say wrong or right I have 3 that will need good home that I am sure I will find without any problems and if not they would not end up in a shelter I would end up with more dogs. Like all advice and what is said you take with you what you want and forget the rest. Wish you all the luck when it comes, molly went the full 63 days, all would say is read and read some more re birth good and bad so you know what to do and use your knowledge of your girl she will surprise you fold over I bet.. Mine did and still is. |

People who work with shelters and rescues do see many purebred and mixed breed dogs (even the small ones, including Yorkies) in shelters. Many changes happen in people's lives. They think they want that cute little furry puppy but don't realize all that goes into training a dog to be a good family member. Then there are those who are just plain irresponsible. Either way there are way too many dogs in shelters. In the NYC area small breed dogs pour into the shelters daily. It is a pitiful sight to see. It is tragic. I hope you interview your prospective owners very well but even the best owners have changes in circumstance in their lives. It is a huge responsibility that you are undertaking. |

In addition to the countless thousands of City and County Dog Pounds and shelters, NoKill and Kill shelters there are countless thousands of breed specific rescue organizations as well. It is a matter of fact, and grossly underestimated here, the true number of purebred dogs, Yorkies...and mutts that are killed, or let me be kinder... EUTHANIZED on a DAILY basis because there simply aren't enough people willing to adopt them? Wrong, its because people are uneducated, overbreeding and trying to make a buck...and people treat animals like crap and %$#@*&^% |

I don't think this is really helpful to someone who is looking for advice at such a important time, don't think it's fair to say people who are not breeders don't care about there dogs or just want to make money, like I said it should be about supporting people in need who have a yorkie not making someone feeling awful and that they may raise a pup that ends up "killed" awful not helpful. |

I did not see a breeder having a problem or looking for advice. She posted an announcement of her up coming litter. |

I always thought a "mutt" was a mix of 2 breeds and a "mongrel" was a mix of more than 2 breeds. We had a mongrel when I was young, they thought she was shepherd, collie and ??. She was the best dog ever. She "found" us while she was in heat and she was starving. We fed her and she stuck around and we posted signs and notices for many weeks. We named her Hungry, because she always was. She was well trained and sweet, but barked horribly when men came to the door. We think a man dumped her while she was is heat... Sadly, we lost her the way we found her...she just disappeared one day. (she was allowed outside....this was the old days and our neighborhood backed to trees. Back then you could let your dog out without being sued) Whenever I hear "mongrel" I think of her because that was when I learned the word. She was probably better behaved than my little yorkiepoo mutt that I raised! Maggie is a sweetheart too, but not as well behaved. (she only comes if she wants to!) |

First or second litter it's still scary and no need to make it worse by unhelpful comments of trying to make people feel like rubbish, lots of people read this site and the thought that someone would come away from it thinking having a pregnant dog makes you care less for your dog or that you just want to make money is wrong and awful |
