| how to get ur dog to eat and take her meds so far today Fancy wont eat anything we been trying to give her. and it's been harder to get her take her pills and the one for her ears whatever it is called. but it just seem like she just fight use no matter what. we did get her to eat yesterday and take one pill but she got to take 2 pills. and too she wont move to much she goes under the bed and hide. but we think she hiding so that she don't have to take her meds. and too she been licking on ever thing a lot more then she use to do. the only thing it seem like she want to do any more is sleep. and the vet doest seem to really know what wrong with her. they only thing they did come up with is it could have been agelirs or something like that. but they never really ask if she good at taking pills or not. the one she take for the heart worms and something else she don't mind taking that sometime. just the meds we got now she wont take them. we could sure use all the help that we can get right now. we not to sure if we need to find other vet or what. we are kind of upside down right now. |

| The fail-proof way I get both of my dogs to take pills is to get a little cream cheese (just a little bit) an put the pill inside of it..like mold the cheese around the pill. Give that like it's a treat and have another tiny piece with no pill ready to go right behind it so they see it and swallow what they have. That way, they never keep it in the mouth and figure out there is a pill in it. The constant licking and hiding sounds like anxiety. Could be not wanting to take meds or could be pain in the ears causing it. To get her to eat, try drizzling a little bit of chicken broth over her kibble. If that doesn't work on its own..feed her the broth covered pieces by hand (again like a treat)

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | How are you giving her the pills? Greenies make pill pockets that you can wrap them in and give her like a treat. And ditto everything mandiesmom said!

| I can get Columbo to take any meds by hiding them in a teaspoon of peanut butter. |

| If she's not eating at all, take her back into the vet. The vet needs to know this and might have some answers for you. Saying a prayer for your little one. I know how stressful this must be on you.

| We use the pill pockets, they haven't failed us so far. They can be purchased at Petco, Petsmart, etc. Some pills shouldn't be ground up (some are ok to grind), so I would only do that if you check with the vet. Last edited by P-Nut Mom; 12-23-2012 at 03:12 PM. |

| I force the pill down. Open his mouth and shove it back then close his mouth until he swallows. I tried being nice and buying the chewable heartworm medicine, but he wouldnt take it...so, now he just gets a pill.

| You can try baby food. Like the chicken in jar or whatever.
