Canine Caviar picture?
 

Can someone post a picture of the Canine Caviar dog food please? I had samples of it a while back (thank you Jenny :) ) but I can't remember what it looked like :rolleyes:

I found a store about 35 miles from here and I might give it a try.

Also, are there any issues with tear stains on this food? I was thinking of getting the Wilderness Grain Free dry food.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND CANINE CAVIAR TO ANYBODY

I have had Riley, who is two and a alf years old, on
Canine Caviar since August 2 this year, so four 4-months.
He started with the grain free wild ocean.
I had him eat that formula for 3-months so that I knew he was
okay with it... and he absolutely loved it. We then tried a trial
bag of the wilderness and he seemed to follow that up fine as
well. We then bought a large bag of the grain free open sky and
that is what he has been eating for the past month with no
problems... He still literally shrieks in excitemnt when it is time
to eat. This is great coming from a pup I used to have to hand
feed in the living room because he was so picky. I have taken
the food to Florida when we went on vacation and he had no
problems eating it for breakfast and dinner. That makes me
Happy that he is Happy with it!!

He had a reaction to the grain inclusive FROMM, including
Runny Eyes, so I had switched him back to ACANA but they
had changed their formula. So he started having some skin
allergy issues to that as well.

On the Canine Caviar he has no eye goop.. Or Very Very
Little if any... His breath smells Great and his coat is super
soft and shiny.... All of the spots on his tummy are completely
100% gone And have not come back in the 4-months that he
is been eating this food. We made a couple of trips to that
because when He was having issues with spots on his Tommy
he would always also cause your infections issues which would
eventually End up with a slight ear infection infections. Since
he has been eating Canine caviar we have not been back to
the vet for anything related to it. He has a ton more energy
and is completely cleared up.

On Page 3 #36 Of this thread has Before and after pictures
of Riley's tummy. The first two photos are before Canine Caviar
while he was eating ACNA and the second two photos are after
only 7-days after he started eating the Canine Caviar.

Thank you. Moo gets those bumps too and she's been doing great on the NV raw diet along with their GF canned varieties and probiotics. But...and there's always a 'but' it seems...not all of their varieties seem to agree with Maddie Jo and Moo still gets itchy after eating the BOOST kibble for a couple of days even if it's not every meal.

So, I think I'll try the Canine Caviar and see if it will agree with both of them.

Do you give any probiotics or supplements along with the Canine Caviar or do you feel you need to?

Yeah..... I have known of some people's pups who don't do
well on the flaxseed in NV...

I don't feed it with any probiotics. Don't feel I need to.
I will sometimes put a couple of drops on Nordic Naturals
Omega-3 Pet in it and I will sometimes chop a few frozen
greenbeans to mix with the kibble after I run them under
Hot water...

Mine would love the green beans too...I think they would do just about anything for a fresh green bean! lol!

I just located a retailer for CC not far from me and she does home delivery too. I emailed her so, hopefully, I will have a bag to try soon.

We love CC. Peanut has been on the Open Sky. He had the same issues Riley was having.. If not worse. I would have to give him an allergy pill everyday! Itchy non stop, hot spots, watery eyes, just horrible!

He hasnt had to get an allergy pill since I started him on the CC! His eyes are clear, shiny coat, no tummy issues, no itching at ALL!!

He also loves the food, licks his bowl clean! I would def try it!!

I'm sooooop glad Theresa told me about CC, and told me to try it- I dont know what I would have done!!

I'd like to find one, dependable, dry food that would work...I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this will be the one.

Btw, the kibble size is not peasized anymore (grain-free anyway). They recently changed. It is larger. Almost Acana size.

Yeah... the Canine Caviar kibble are just a tiny bit bigger.
Its really almost hard to tell... its more like the old kibble were
more of an eraser shape and the new kibble are slightly flattened out.
The Acana was too big for Riley. I used to have to Cut that kibble.
I don't have to cut the new shaped Canine Caviar.

I think the flatter shaped kibble are better.
The older kibble was easier for pups to just gulp down rather than chew.

Sideview in the next reply box.

i am one of those that went thru a lot of foods to find the "right" one ..
it is a great feeling when you do.. :)

i am going to give this food a try for Jasmin. DH and I want to switch her to grain free since she started having eye boogers and itchy skin. I found a store that is only a couple of miles away that carries this brand.

My vet had said and I have read that unless there are immediate signs of intolerance, 3-4 months is a good time frame to see short-term as well as long-term effects. This is why I didn't feed anything except the wild ocean for 3 months before switching to open sky.

Did Riley 'get worse' before she got better when you switched or did her issues just start disappearing?

No.... he started getting better as soon as we switched.

The first picture is Before... the second picture is only 7-days After
switching and the third picture was a couple of days ago.
He hasn't had any ear or skin issues since switching on Aug. 2nd.

Wow...that is exactly what I'm wishing for Miss Moo. She is doing o.k. with the routine she is on now, she's more comfortable and symptom free than she has been for a long time, but I know it isn't totally right just yet so I'm still on my mission to get it right for her.

The new size is not anything to worry about! I use to have to cut Acana in 1/2 as well and with the CC Peanut eats it just fine. It is like Theresa explained.. They took the small size and smashed it.
