I have had it with the runny eyes on Max and Mickey that they are getting on Fromm. Going to order a bag of this from Chewy.com Do your pups like the Open Sky GF? The boys like duck. |

I don't think you can go wrong with either. He Loves Duck and he Loves Fish!! :D He also Loved the Wilderness, which is Venison. We tried a 1lb trial bag of it and he did fine on it. I just like to try and keep him on the same protein for 2 - 3 months before switching. So he ate Wild Ocean for 3-months and has been eating Open Sky for about a month. Good Luck and keep me posted!! |
Poor Mickey... His eyes are running so much on Fromm that even though I gently clean them they are geting red/sore skin near eye ducts. :( And Max has the largest goobers I have ever seen! Thanks! |
Ordered some CC dry food for my cat as well. She is 16 years old and has food intolerances. Have you looked at their canned food? The ingredients are amazing! I ordered a case of the Gourmet Turkey for the cat but it can be fed to Dog or Cat. The boys will love a bit mixed in their food. Ingredients: Ground Turkey, Water Sufficient for Processing, Carrageenan Gum, Cassia Gum. |
Jax has also been having runnier eyes than normal. It's not a HUGE problem, but definitely noticeable. I am honestly not sure if it's the food or what. I am unsure if I should go back to a Fromm grain-free formula, if it's possibly the grains, or try something else like CC to see if the eye tearing problem goes away. We did two bags of Fromm grain-free, then went to chicken a la veg, duck & sweet potato, and now have a new bag of pork & applesauce. Noticeable eye goop did not come until mid-way thru chicken a la veg. It's just a shame because he LOVES his Fromm. Like absolutely LOVES and enjoys meal time. And *I* love Fromm, lol. So basically I am deciding whether to buy a bag of Fromm grain-free, or get another brand and see if the problem stops. In every other aspect, he's been doing great. The last time we tried Open Sky, I thought it smelled bad, and he never too much cared for the taste. I never cared for the price either... so I'm not sure if it'd be worth it or not, I mean his eye boogers aren't that difficult to clean out. Does anyone know if the Venison smells similar to the Open Sky duck? |

I just got a can of beaver, a can of turkey and a can of Duck to try. He's been eating a little Beaver mixed in and he goes even more nuts for Mealtime!! |
I used to feed lola Origins grain free kibble, but after she got sick from it I started her on Canine caviar and she is doing great. her breath was awful but since she has been on canine caviar it doesn't stick anymore :) |
I honestly think that Fromm has too many ingredients in their kibble...& I really dislike flax seed & tomato pomace in dog food...they just simply can't digest it (flax) & tomato pomace is the by-product of tomatoes, consisting of skin which is filled w/pesticides. I wouldn't be surprised if the eye goop problem & poopie issues comes from those said ingredients. Mine are doing so GREAT on Canine Caviar! |

Ok I will add my two cents. Levi had done well on the Wellness simple solutions duck...but I wanted to get away from wellness. Tried From game bird he itched until he was almost bleeding. I felt horrible. So we are back on wellness...which he does well on but company makes me nervous. Canine Caviar has a duck formula? You have tried it with success? thanks. Lily my little peanut can eat anything, go figure:) |
Ohhh so the only small bag that Chewy.com sells is the large breed puppy and it's MUCH price friendlier hehe - it's $12.99 for a 4.4lb bag, I am considering trying that one. It's not grain-free but it doesn't have flaxseed or tons of ingredients. Dehydrated Lamb, Split Peas, Chickpea, Venison Meal, Pearl Millet, Lamb Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Sun-Cured Alfalfa, Whole Ground Linseed, Aspergillus Niger Fermentation Culture, Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Culture, Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Culture, Sun-Cured Kelp, FOS (prebiotic), Sodium Chloride, Lecithin, Choline Chloride, Parsley, Fenugreek, Peppermint, Glucosamine, Taurine, Selenium, Whole Clove Garlic, Vitamin E, Zinc Proteinate, Vitamin C, Papaya, Rose Hips, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Niacin, Beta-Carotene, Manganese Proteinate, Vitamin D3, Biotin, Vitamin A, Riboflavin, Vitamin B-12, Potassium Proteinate, Folic Acid |

Right now he is eating the Open Sky [Duck...] My bag of Open Sky doesn't stink, At All. |

but Riley did not do well, At All on the chicken a la veg or the pork and applesauce. I was bummed because I really like FROMM as a company. I just didn't even bother trying the grain free. Just seems like way too many ingredients in their formulas. He is doing GREAT on Canine Caviar as well!! Soooo Glad and relieved that I decided to try it. |

Duck, this past weekend. I have been feeding Riley a little bit of the Beaver each day and he has been GOING NUTS over it!! :D |
Our bag of CC Open Sky arrived today. Mickey took some of it out of his bowl, rolled on it and then ate it. Weird:) LOL Smells good to me! The boys keep begging for more! They seem to love it. I love the ingredients. Hope this works! Not stopping until the bottom of the bag before evaluate. Keep you all posted. |

YAY!! :) LOL!! Riley sometimes does the same thing! He will take a kibble out, roll on it on the kitchen floor then eat it... then he'll eat the rest of the kibble. Yeah... My bag smells fine... doesn't really have that much of a smell at all really. Fingers Crossed it works!! Riley is Still Loving It, almost 5 months later!! |
I seem to be having a hard time finding this food. I thought I had a distributor not far from me but she doesn't carry it...thought she could still order it though  The other one I contacted said they no longer carry it and they asked me to stop in for some 'much better options'. There are 2 other stores mentioned but they are quite a bit further away so I'm going to call them and see if they still carry it. Do any of you buy yours online? The CC website has several online stores listed but I don't ever shop online so I'm not sure about ordering. If you do order yours online, what site do you use? |

They have Free Shipping over $49 and I got my bag in 2 days. I believe the smallest bag they carry in the grain free though are the 12lb bags. Dog and Cat Food, Treats, and Supplies | Free Shipping at Chewy.com Pet Food Station carries the 4.4lb bags...although I have never had to order from them, I think that if I had to order online I would give them a try. They also have Free Shipping over $49. PetFoodStation - Canine Caviar There is a place not too far from me, who used to carry it.... They don't carry it any longer, but the manager told me she could order it for me, anytime. She also said that it was a Great food that she could not keep in stock. She is a small store so she does special orders for people, now... You could call Canine Caviar's toll free number and they can give you some places that carry it... One last thing.. . there were some places around here that carry it but but were not on the store locator on Canine Caviar's website. So I think you just have to call around to find it... But i would think if there is a store around you that used to carry it they should still be able to get it. I wonder what the stores "much better options" are?? |

Thank you for the information...I'll keep looking. The one last store that's about an hour away does have a nice antique mall so we could just make a day of it :) but finding it closer to home, with winter and the real possibility of bad roads coming, would be nice. Oh, I did call the CC customer service line but they are only open M-F so I'll have to call on Monday. |

The other store I usually get it at is about a 45 min. trip away.... I'm usually out that way at least once a month, and she has great discounts from time to time so I am stocked up, now for a while. :D I like to get the smaller 4.4lb bags when I can because I am always worried that kibble will go stale....?!?! Their website says their kibble can be refrigerated for up to 6 months so i can always do that if I get the bigger bags, I suppose. Keep me posted as to what that store says. I hope you can find it within a reasonable distance. :) |

today DH and I went to don and chuck to buy CC open sky. Jasmin has recently been a picky eater. She hasn't been touching her food this whole week. Well tonight I mixed in a little of the CC. She ate her dinner up. I am glad she likes it. We also got a can of the CC turkey just in case we need to mix it in with the dry food. I am really hoping this food will work for her. |

so far jasmin is doing well on the CC. However, I noticed that she is drinking more water than usual. Hopefully this is normal. |
SO far here the Open Sky CC is doing GREAT!!!! Stools are small and firm again. Boys LOVE it. I think it smells good.:thumbup: Size is good too. Not too big. ANd funniest thing I have never sen before... When it first came I put about 5 pieces down for Mickey to try. He carried it to his bed and started rolling all over it for about 5 min before he ate it. It was so funny!!! |
