| first vet visit and grooming I will be taking my baby to her first vet visit this saturday and then hopefully to petsmart to get a trim. Have any of you use petsmart before? I don't want her to get a bad haircut. |

| If your pup as not had all of its shots it is very much not a good idea to take your pup to petsmart.

| If your puppy has not completed all of the series of shots it is supposed to have then it should not be out in public. Other dogs can carry organisms that cause disease in dogs not already protected. Keep your baby home until it's immune system is strong enough to fight off the things it will be exposed to from other animals. Some people have had good experiences at the chain pet stores but there are also many that have had injuries and cuts that were horrible. It depends on your local store and how well they trained their employees. The chain stores take people off the streets and train them there at the store. There is no special training that is required to be a "groomer." Anyone can pick up the clippers and work on your puppy. There are no laws or regulations in this industry. I would not leave my puppy alone with a groomer I did not know. If you don't have time to stay and watch then wait until you do. It's best to investigate a few groomers, get references. Many people only take their dog to a groomer when they need to be cut down so get references from someone who has a long haired dog that really cares about how they look and how they are treated. There are so many horror stories that people have encountered at these grooming places that it is well worth your while to closely check out the places before taking your pet there. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hi usually you have to wait at least two weeks after the shots to take him out.
