YT 500 Club Member | age? Everyone knows about my zooey, well some of you. I was just wondering, how can I tell her real age when she came from a puppy mill. Supposedly her bday was 3/7/2012. That would make her about 8 months old. Weird thing is when I got her at 10 weeks, she slept all through the night, never cried, ears stood up in a month, only had two baby teeth pulled out, weighs about 5 lbs, and her fur is straight with grey, and very light tan face and some black. Doesn't look like puppy fur at this age. She's 13 inches long from neck to tail, and 13 girth and about 6 inches from shoulder to floor. Does that sound right? Vet thinks that's not her true bday. We will never know at this point.

| I'm not sure. I would think a vet could see how many/when her adult teeth came in and approximate..? Good question.

| I understand how you feel. I got Mikki and was told she was one year old. The vet thinks she is more like 3 years old. He was basing it on how her teeth looked. Since we will never know, I just went with what her old momma told me. So I tell everyone she is now 2! .

YT 500 Club Member | It just sucks not knowing how old she is. When do pups loose their puppy fur anyways. Zooeys for is grey and straight. But is her measurements right for her age? And weight?

| I would think your vet would be able to give you an approximate age.

| I think it's important to go to a vet that specializes in small animals, if you want to determine your yorkie's age. Small dogs age slower, so a regular vet may UNDERESTIMATE your yorkie's age. The upside to the slower aging is that small dogs can live longer if they're taken care of by their owners. |
