Heartbreaking that Ellie can't know one way or other if this is Bengi today!!! And surely these people will hold him as promised as you'd hope it's their goal to see to it that a little lost dog gets to his real home! If that's not their goal and they can't break a rule or two to be certain they aren't doing all they can to achieve this - they should be run out of the business of rescue. ANYONE wanting to get a rescue dog at their facility would understand that the dog they were hoping to get can't go by a certain date as it was being held until the possible real owner can get in. It would break my heart to think I had "rescued" a dog from a place that knew its possible real owner was out there begging for the organization to hold the dog I wanted until she could get there!

Hopefully, Daddy can get there Sunday and find it is Bengi waiting! I'm sure praying for that to happen.

Those 2 dogs in those side-by-side pictures could be twins if not the same dog except the rescue's eyes seem a little closer set.

If you have a smartphone try to take a video of him for Ellie...I don't understand the crazy rules, sure anyone can say something but if its Bengi and she has HIS paperwork and signs an affidavit etc., this is crazy, I question the rules at this place...rescue??? They should be working in concert with Ellie in trying to Id if this is Bengi...not against....I still say someone needs to get over there quickly...surely there is a way???

Hey guys; it's not him. I spoke to Mary at the shelter and I explained her about her toe nail where there's no toe, and she checked both paws and had somebody help her look; she said there is no extra nail there AT ALL.
Also, the black on the nose was a big concern for me. I asked her is this yorkie had for sure black on the nose and she said yes, he has a lot of black on the nose. I said, for sure that's not dirt? and she said no. Bengi did NOT had any black in the nose, you can look at his pictures, he didn't
I know he looks a lot like Bengi; but it's those little things that can confirm if it's him or not and also being there on that shelter far away from the area was a long shot.
This is so hard; I don't think I can take it anymore :(

im going through each town, then putting yorkie and seeing what comes up... some are so sad :(

I'm just in tears over this... This is just so devastating to read. I thought for sure we were going to hear good news. I don't know how you can bear it. But, I pray God gives you strength every day to not give up hope.

awwee. so sorry :( well I think everyone needs to keep looking. There is still hope! He could still be found. Ill never forget the time we moved when i was a kid and our dog went to our old home. WE looked for her for a long time. Then a old neighbor called and said. Ummm I have your dog. We moved to a differnet county, city. My mom says about 85 miles away. So dont give up hope. Hes out there wondering where you are. Lets try and get him back home where he belongs! Hugs

Wow, it's a long way from Orlando/Lake Buena Vista, but if this is Bengi then whomever took him must have decided to set him free. But what a horrible thing to do.

I definitely think this is one worth investigating -- resemblance is very strong.

I'm so sorry that it wasn't him, Ellie. We are all still praying and I am sure we are all still going to do our part to keep hunting.

DON'T GIVE UP! I know you are emotionally and physically exhausted, but don't give up. Just keep remembering all those news stories of lost dogs turning up years later and even across country and such. It's only been 2 weeks...keep hope and keep faith and hang in there. Hugs!!

Ellie, Please get in your car and go get him. They wont' let me see him or take photos!!! You're 2 hours away. Please don't miss this chance. I'm begging you. DOn't take the word of a volunteer about his toe/toe nail. This may just be an inexperienced kid at the shelter who looked at his paw, when you're baby's life is in their hands. I'm begging you to please make sure. YOu're 2 hours away!!! He goes up for adoption tomorrow.

PS, i live in Melbouren and I know first hand about this shelter. DON"T take their word!!

To hear/read from someone that knows of this shelter first hand saying not to take their word for it gives me shivers.

I suppose it comes down to this - based on experience in one phone coversation with this shelter (for lack of a better term) and reading what others have been told (which makes no sense - no pics, can't see him, etc) - I think you should get up there and see with your own eyes and for your own PEACE of MIND. And go today or whatever will get you there as soon as they open tomorrow. Ellie, it may be a wasted trip but this shelter seems so wacky and strange - waste the trip and know for sure it's not him while you have the chance, ok? I just think you'll always wonder "what if" if you don't go...

I have to say if I were in Ellie's shoes I would have dropped everything and gone to see this boy in person. I know she's juggling a lot but you are so right; at this point she cannot trust the word of anyone else -- she has to see this boy for herself to determine whether or not it is Bengi.

I agree...nothing could stop me from driving there to see him in person...nothing!

My vet and groomer both missed a strange little dew-claw 'leftover' on Maddie Jo so I had to show them...they couldn't believe they missed it...also...many things can affect the color of a dog's nose.

And please, please...when you get your boy back...get him microchipped. I am speaking from personal experience here...it may be the only way you get your dog back in a situation like this. It is the only way I got mine back.

LEts hear from you Ellie.... let us know if you are still coming up to see him and verify him.

There are many who will be standing in line tomorrow to see this boy. I really hope you're first in line. He goes up for adoption tomorrow. If they told you they would hold him, I would NOT believe them. I've had personal dealings with them. They will tell you, Oooops...sorry.

I would have been there to see that dog in person, the second I saw his picture, unless I could say with complete conviction, that was NOT my dog. Hell, in Texas we commute to WORK 160 miles a day! This rescue trip would be NOTHING if I thought this was my baby....I would have called in sick or WHATEVER it took to get off work, in order to go get my dog....If that is Bengi, and you do not go get him immediately, and he is adopted out to another family,......... well that is something I personally would not want on my conscience. Dont let this once in a life time opportunity slip right thru your hands....that baby is depending on his momma to find him!

Well, this looks like Ellie knows it is not Bengi for certain.....I am so sorry about this....I know it is overwhelming.....and I know Ellie cant be running all over Florida every time a dog that looks like Bengi comes across...but I just know I do not trust someone to look and give me their opinion.....I want to see for myself. If that lady said they would hold this dog until Sunday, I would be there Saturday, just to be sure I got there before they let him go.

Well I don't think any of us really know her situation at home, except that she works and has a newborn and another child. Lord knows what she may be going through... atleast she has us as a support group and assistance.

Personally, I would do as the others, drop everything and go...wherever whenever!

But my boys are grown and my husband knows that my boys and my Lils are #1 -he came into the marriage knowing this.

Let's keep the faith and believe God is watching over this and all will be well :hands:

I been reading all these threads and I am heart broken for her! There was another yorkie listed on that website too ( that itsbadangel posted) The yorkie was found I think the same day she lost BenGi. 10/26 right? It's not stating male/female. Sending all my hopes and prayers from NY!

I noticed the black hair near/on the nose too.
I would still take a drive and check him out.

Has the hotel offered a reward and sent someone out with flyers yet for you?
If not, they SHOULD!

Seriously...Go and see! If he's been running around in the woods, he'd have gotten dirty! I know that they try to clean up lost dogs, but maybe he wouldn't let them do his face very well. The Pics look so much alike that I'd have to go myself to make sure :(:(
