the similarities I see are the type of haircut, the obvious weight/size simiarity, and the coloring

I see more than that. The eyes look exactly the same. The facial features, set of the ears....I am praying for good news...I know I'm going to cry either way. Praying for happy tears.

For the one wanting an update, because I had to leave for work I spoke with this lady again about the pictures and she said she couldn't tell me for sure cause some made her think it was him and others don't.

Does benji have ANY birthmarks, unique neuter scar, retained baby teeth, chipped teeth, anything? Can you remember if he has one specific leg he lifts to potty? Any unique tricks he knows or words he responds to?

Was Benji ever in a gift exchange here or would you know his measurements? His weight may have dropped in the time he's been lost but his girth, height, length would he the same.

yes, he was in a couple of gift exchanges back in 2007 I think. His girth should be a little more I think, but his lenght is the same

well, he knew a lot of tricks, and he would do them especially if you offer him a treat or a piece of chicken. He knew sit, beg, play dead, roll over, shake, and high five

I have been searching on FB for someone in that area, I am so glad that finally some one from YT lives there. I am so hoping for good news, get those measurements because it will help identify him. Prayers tonight for your little guy

Gentle nudge here, you really need to act quickly on this....3 hours or 3 days away you need to make sure this is or is not Bengi...believe me when I say these pups are sensitive, very sensitive...if it is Bengi he needs you to get him, he needs to come home.

3 weeks ago my husband and I seperated, my pups were devastated...I did everything I could to make them comfortable and happy...endless vet visits and several issues later my pups are now at "daddy's" for a visit...all their nervousness and depression and illness have subsided..they missed him and "home" so much....my heart breaks for them and for Bengi...

Sure does look like him!!! If I were you, I'd get up to Melbourne right away. He's on the lost and found list, not on an adoption list....yet.

UPDATE:
I just spoke to the shelter and to Ellie. The shelter will not let me take pix and they won't let me see him since I have no way to prove that I'm there to help. They say pix can be used for someone other than me to say he's theirs.
Bureaucracy.... ugghhh.
THis breaks my heart...he looks so scared in that photo.

He is adoptable on Saturday but Mary from the shelter promised her she would hold him for Ellie till Sunday. Ellie's hubby is coming up Sunday to see him and if it's him, he will take him home.

She's going to have the shelter check for the missing toe nail.

Ellie, please keep us all posted when you find out if it's him. I'm still going to go over there today and see if I can get to see him.

Which paw has the missing toe nail?

I don't think it's the toe nail that's missing. From what Ellie has said in prior posts there's a toe nail growing where there is no toe. Sorry, she hasn't said which foot it is from what I've seen.
