| Deer antlers My mom is ordering toys online for Joel, Rosco and even cousin Milo, and we were wondering how much they would be able to break anything of an antler if they break at all? Last edited by ilovejoel; 10-31-2012 at 02:17 PM. |

| Sorry, but couldn't Rosco eat a whole deer if he was so inclined? (JK) Deer antlers are very hard... I'd be more worried about broken teeth.

| My 2 get deer antlers - Mya is a big chewer. They don't get big pieces off, ever - and they've been getting them for at least a year and a half now. No issues with teeth so far, but both have very healthy, strong teeth. I'd think twice about giving them to a dog who has dental issues.

| Milo is on his 4 one. He chews them down and then I throw the rest away. He has never got big pieces off. He get in my lap and will chew forever.

| This may be a stupid question, but how young of a puppy can you give these to? Or is it better to wait till they are much older?

| I started with Mya when she was around 12 months, but honestly if I had known about them sooner, I would have started sooner. She is one of those dogs that HAS to have something to chew - she was chewing on my table legs, tearing up blankets, destroying everything.. loved bitter apple spray, I was at a loss. Deer antlers honestly saved her from having to be rehomed. I get a size up from what they recommend.

| Someone gave Maddie and Libby deer antlers once, but they just didn't care for them. I think probably because they couldn't bite pieces off!

| Guinness has had one since 6 months and now we keep 4 in the house at all times, he never gets large pieces and has no teeth issues the only problem we have is he chews them in our bed so you feel like you are sleeping in sand and if he sees you with a peanut butter jaw he gets his deer antler and puts it on your foot wanting you to put peanut butter on the end lol |
