| Yorkie Trainers Observation # 11 : Often when dogs yawn it often means, I am uncomfortable, I need a break, I feel nervous about this.

| I don't think have ever seen Gracie yawn. I just tried yawning while she watched but she was not impressed. Of course she had her mouth full of a toy that she was about to shake up so I don't think she is interested in being sympathetic to my yawn. |

| Nope, didn't work with Mocha. Just just tries to smell my mouth. Made me triple check my breath to make sure I don't have bad breath. I just had dinner so he probably smelled the food. |

| Didn't work with Zeus...but there are also people outside so he was probably distracted. 69% of the time it works though...? I read a study once that yawning is mostly symbolic, and that it was to signify to the pack that it was time to slow down and camp for the night. Make sense with dogs...even cats. But my beardie yawns and she's definitely not a pack critter

| Interesting article. I've read before that yawning for people is caused by the body showing a slowing of oxygen intake and its how the body adjusts, I've also read in big cats (tigers etc) it's a sign of mild aggression. I tried once out if curiosity to stick my tongue out whole yawning like my dog do...nope I couldn't.
